Confirmation of pax numbers for July 2024.
1,626,726 +6% compared to July 2023. A new record high.
Some routes performed extremely strongly. Other, most noticeably, most of the US routes saw a decline in numbers compared to last year. Perhaps the first sign of demand cooling from the US. The exception being JFK. This I suspect rejects the argument, made by some that Jetblue didn’t do well. A probable contributory factor, mostly for United, is the number of cancellations. Qatar and Turkish appear to have performed very strongly. A new record high pax number for QR and the capacity increase from TK appears to have paid off, despite competition from Pegasus. Beijing, finally appears to have performed strongly. Up a whopping 187%, compared to 2023. The Canadian routes performed very strongly. Very positive numbers for Westjet and Air Canada.
Selected stats
Copenhagen - 33,386 +20%
Heksinki - 10,430 +69%
Munich - 13,318 +49%
Milan Malpensa - 9,823 +72
Oslo - 13,420 -15% The Bergen route may have contributed to the drop in numbers. Not wholly however. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Norwegian scale back in some way.
Bergen - 4,174
Istanbul - 15,508 +42%
Istanbul Gokcen - 4,208
Doha - 33,871 +10% or 97% LF.

Calgary - 10,570 +28%
Toronto - 25,581 +76%
JFK - 19,228 +55%
