Just call it Leeds. It's what they usually put on departure boards in airports abroad, and it's often how flight and cabin crew describe the destination. You'll hear people say things like, 'oh we're going from Leeds this time, rather than Manchester'. Never heard anyone say, 'we're flying out of Bradford'

Don't blame em tbh and that's coming from someone Bradford born and bred. Nothing to shout about with this city (sounds similar anyway) these days

Well it's situated in Leeds, but when the councils sold up to Bridgepoint, Bradford Council insisted on including a requirement that Bradford will remain part of the name, so Leeds Bradford it will remain, though as pointed out, it's usually referred to just as Leeds at airports.

LBA management have no intention of changing the name so this entire thread can be nothing more than an amusing (?) distraction.

And all this because I suggested a mural to cover up the cladding.
Yes, all your fault Bigman. For your penance say 3 Hail Mary's, 3 Our Father's and do 100 lines saying 'I will only ever fly from Leeds Bradford Airport'.

Yes I recall that but there is a way around it. "Leeds International Airport, for Leeds, Bradford and the Yorkshire region."

I would go for that name as Leeds is known the world over, airports abroad tend to just have Leeds on their departure boards and yet it still, albeit not in the main name still has reference to Bradford. As Bridgepoint have not been the owners for a number of years now surely the airport can now move forward and modernise its image with the new extension and promote itself as a true international airport.

As part of the deal to sell the airport the airport will forever be know with reference to Bradford. So if the airport were to chose a new name, it would have to include Bradford in the name somewhere.

The Fathers being Ted, Dougal and Jack of course.

Take Bradford out of the name and LBA is no longer a suitable airport code. That said I am becoming more and more anti my home city as the years go by (and far too quickly at that) so I wouldn't be that bothered to lose the B word
LYA will do. Leeds (Yeadon) Airport. Keep the elderly residents of Yeadon who mourn the days of Yeadon Aerodrome happy.

Or just LDS.

However, in the real world, LBA aint goin' nowhere. It's here to stay.

Sadly, LBA aint goin' nowhere.

Can't use LYA, thats Luoyang Beijiao Airport (China), and LDS is Yichun Lindu Airport (also China), so I think your stuck with LBA! :ROFLMAO:

Should drop the leeds bit and call it Bradford international 🤣😎
I'd love to see Leeds City Council's reaction to planning applications for an airport within their boundaries but which doesn't include Leeds in its name . The airport would never get approval again for anything.

Since Bradford offers virtually nothing towards the airport it's fortunate to still be named in it's title.

Incidentally, when folk moan about the airport being in the wrong place, that's down to Bradford too. In the 1930s Leeds wanted to build the airfield at Whinmoor on flat ground near the A64, but Bradford Council complained it was too far, so it ended up on a bit of fog plagued moorland at Yeadon instead.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
