The above said and reported, however departures have no big delays. Planes going out a few mins late to a max of half an hour. Something's working well

There's also a little more to it than saying it's all working well because planes are departing on time. All the pax queueing outside the terminal for security for an hour or more means they aren't in the departure lounge. If they aren't in the departure lounge, they aren't spending money. And where does BHX make a huge chunk of it's money?

Some may consider it a slow news day. Some may consider airport pax being forced to queue outside and nearly miss their flights as being shambolic and worthy of news. Like it or not in the social media world we live in, it won't go unnoticed.

Only a month before the project is complete and the whole thing is running like a well oiled machine!

Anyone know what queues are like ,How long queues are today.I only ask is because my mum and brother want to travel to Northern Ireland next month 28th June to Belfast for Graveyard Sunday in Armagh.So basically all I’m asking is how predictable are the queues through security

By 28 June, the new system should be fully up and running (not saying that there won't be any teething troubles), so it's very difficult to predict from today's queues what will be happening then. If your Mom wants to go, I'd say just book and go.

Hi kev.Thats the issue with airport now.For domestic flights you have to be at the airport 2hrs+ .Say for example my flight was at 1pm and get to the airport at 10.30-11am and the queue is enormous and I miss my gate time.Whos to blame security,Airport or myself even though I make it to the airport 2 hours before.
For me the X files sort of construction site has an impact.

Ultimately, you've got to decide whether you want to go or not (and risk any possible queues). Wasn't it this time last year, that you and your Mom were debating travelling and worrying about flight cancellations?

Except that boarding card scan is can be precise, assuming it is time stamped, whereas joining a queue is not precise

Always wondered how they determine the actual queue duration considering you don't scan it again before the boarding gate?

They are, but the headlines first two words are Birmingham Airport and with others over recent weeks it's screams as 'do not use Birmingham Airport'. Sadly the average punter does not know what we know.
