What is going on with this forum and the amount of adverts?! It’s become so difficult and messy to navigate with the screen area becoming smaller due to adverts in your face at every opportunity!
It takes much longer to both read and respond to threads due to these (in my opinion) over zealous number of adverts!

Indeed. And the amount of times I’m asked do I consent to numerous cookies.

Thank you for the feedback.

You're not alone in this, and we understand it can feel frustrating.

The simple reason for the adverts is that they are what keep this forum free. They directly pay for our servers, security, and essential maintenance. Without them, we would have to introduce a paid membership fee for all users.

We are actively looking at ways to improve the balance and reduce the intrusiveness. We hear you, and we are working on it.

Thank you for your understanding and for being part of the community.

Thanks for the feedback. I worked with @Aviador over the best places to place the adverts to try and prevent the least amount of inconvenience to users to keep the site free for all users, however some placements are automatic, and we have been unable to stop this automatic placement without losing a significant amount of income from advertisements. We'll also be adjusting the premium tiers so for as little as £10 a year, you can browse ad-free while logged into your account.

Unfortunately, this is a legal requirement to declare which cookies are in-use on this site. You can decline the use of cookies if you desire, but this will affect access and features available for you to use on the forum.

@Ashley.S some time ago when the auto ads were placed some ad coding was added to the top of the page. If this were to be removed we could return to the ad placement system using the ACP. This would allow us more control over where the ads appear.

I understand regarding adds being required but it’s the ones that take up half a page for me, I’ve accidentally clicked onto the adds numerous times in an attempt to minimise so I can read posts. Also the adverts in the middle of posts too make it increasingly difficult to read the forum on my phone.

There isn't a quick fix for us as what we need to change is built into the coding of the site. When @Ashley.S. or @Brandin is able we can look at removing the coding to go back to the previous ad layout options. When the time is right we'll get it fixed. In the meantime subscribing for a nominal fee will remove all ads.

I get that. But it is more than it used to be with no single “decline” option.

Constant battle trying to shut them down. Pornographic ones too. I just use less and less anyway.

You shouldn't be getting those and you can alter that by clicking on Ad Choices in the corner of the ad.

As an immediate solution you can remove all ads by subscribing. It costs ftom as little as £1 per month to remove all adverts on the forum.

People don't want ads yet they don't want to pay a nominal fee to remove them.

I would love to have the forum set up where users can upload photos and attachments unrestricted and be able to view the forum without any advertisements. If you can find a way for us to do that at no cost, please let us know.

As @Aviador stated, you can support the site and remove all ads for less than the price of a coffee each month.

I’ll happily spend a few quid on coffees, phone apps or streaming subscriptions but it’s easy to forget that the same small amount can really help keep this community going. Forums4Airports isn’t a business – it’s run by volunteers who give up their own time simply because they love aviation and the forum itself.

If you enjoy being part of this place, it’s definitely worth considering supporting it. Every bit helps and a simple subscription can mean you get an ad-free experience and help keep this great forum going.

I've spent a couple of hours looking at the advert placements today. There are some new adverts and some have been removed. I've spent a decent amount of time testing the adverts on both mobile and desktop sites and they both seem reasonable to me.

I have removed a significant number of ads from the mobile site but as a compromise these have been replaced with a bottom slider ad which can be removed and some occasional full page ads.

Previously the slider ads were placed at the top of the page which interfered with the Option Tabs. The new slider ads are at the base of the forum and can be removed by pressing the \/ the image thumbnail shows an arrow where the ads can be clicked/touched to remove them.

Full page ads will appear periodically and they can easily be removed by clicking/touching the top right corner denoted by an [X] or [CLOSE] tab this is indicated by an arrow in the thumbnail.

I have maximised the number of advertisements Google AdSense will allow me to removed so it has been a balancing act to get the right ones removed to ensure the best user experience we can achieve. I hope everyone who doesn't pay a subscription can understand that this is essential to maintain the forums viability.

Thank you @Aviador for all that hard work and I hope that all members will appreciate the effort that you have gone to.
As others have said, it cost a nominal amount to become a subscriber to the forum and then all the ads will disappear.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
