That's interesting SD. I was looking at an ACL report start of summer 2017 at what I thought was a comparative (despite the column also being headed up s17) which showed 684. Could that have been an 'actual' for peak week s16 bearing in mind what actually happens is usually less than slots applied for?

Yes the S16 report is slightly confusing. I believe the 684 figure was the carried forward 'rights' from the previous year. They then applied for, and received, an additional 79 slots when the final allocations were made. Remember that the 2016 report I referred to was the final summer report and so took into account any initial slots applied for the previous November. If the airline then does not want the slots they are returned by mid-January for reallocation to other airlines.

I hope that might help, or maybe even confuse you a little more!

I was wondering if anyone knew the airlines that Flybe codeshare with at MAN?

Full joint venture partners
Air France on PARIS- CDG services .

Also on many regional French services where AF and Hop sell their tickets on Flybe services.

Also Flybe sell a select (and always somewhat expensive) number of connections from Manchester beyond Paris on AF metal.

Interline through ticketing coded sectors for following airlines (No reciprocal arrangements)

Emirates
Etihad
Virgin Atlantic
Cathay Pacific
Air Mauritius (Actually its for AF bit confusing)

Coded reciprocal arrangement with
Finnair
Air Berlin.

Not from Manchester :-

Coded reciprocals with Aer Lingus and KLM oh and British Airways NQY-LGW !

Thanks for that! Didn't know they codeshare with Emirates!

Just been down shops however you will notice one missing partner and that's Thomas Cook/Condor, where they have a commercial agreement allowing TCX/CFG to market and sell connections from various UK, Dutch and German points over their Manchester and Frankfurt leisure based long haul network using Flybe as well as LH Group services.

In principle this is a traditional interline type arrangement but does make the point how meaningless Codeshare flight numbers can be imho.

I have deliberately avoided posting in the parallel thread of Dobbo's because I do not believe the premise being made in that Codeshares may somehow be used to determine future direct services in any meaningful way.

A well-known source on another forum has reported that Flybe/Stobart Air are looking to start a 16x weekly Southend-Manchester service which will operate 3x daily on Monday and Friday and 2x daily on all other days.

Interesting choice for a route to put it lightly...

I think Stobarts are trying to push Southend as an alternative access point to London for business and travellers especially the City. Also a link to MAN would give Southend an access to MANs long haul routes through the Flybe codeshare agreements as it has no DUB or AMS hub routes. Guessing it'll be on an ATR 72 and not one of the E175's?

Yes getting around the M25 can be a pain especially if you have to go over the Dartford crossing. MAN could be good alternative access to long haul routes not just for business but for leisure as well especially routes like Orlando.

Stobart Air still operates three smaller ATR42's as well as the fourteen larger ATR72's. So this could be an ATR42 run - not so challenging to fill. Didn't FlyBe briefly try SEN themselves with DH8D's afew years back? Anyway, back then MAN had alot more services to London than we see now. And the last-man-standing Shuttle to LHR offers only highly-priced fares. So there could be a niche for a less-expensive choice to the South-East. This service will have a natural catchment area of East London and Essex anyway, and as Jerry points out there is now the range of connecting options offered via the FlyBe mini-hub at MAN. So this could actually work, especially if bedded in using the smaller ATR42.

Whilst that may work for some routes, specifically on the Orlando one, I believe Stansted has flights with both TCX and Thomson to Orlando. Generally I'd rather trek to a more distant airport (within a hour or so) for a direct flight, than fly from my local airport and connect somewhere.

Thanks for this, Seasider. I took my information from airfleets.net which still shows three of these as active. Jethro's shows two active. But if they're on the way out let's hope that Stobart can make the larger ATR72 work on MAN-SEN.

Did our 4th wave get watered down by change of strategy re new London focused CEO ?

I wish it every success ! Cough

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
