Confirmation from the start of season Winter 2018 ACL report:

Southend ceases on 6th January (operated by Stobart Air) whilst Southampton will reduce from 7 to 5 per day. At the same time Tououse reduces from 5 to 3 per week.

For me the above snippet from Scottie Dogs post the other day says it all about Flybe "whilst Southampton will reduce from 7 to 5 per day" are Flybe helping themselves?

Manchester-Southampton down to 5 daily from 7 wow it still looks way to many flights especially when you put in to context you can only fly to Paris twice weekly from Doncaster Sheffield. Add the odd route operates from just one airport (Prague may be one destination) it doesn't make much sense what there network planning team are doing.

MAN to SOU is a very busy route because it is a pain by train and there are a lot of business connections
MAN to CDG is a different kettle of fish as there are 3 airlines on route whereas SOU it is 1

A lot of airlines will operate different routes from different airports and tailor the route network to the demands of iindividual bases.
Does anyone know if their partnership with AF is a joint venture?

Good business sense to review winter ops. The SOU flights are very busy but in reality 1 or 2 flights are combined when resource issues are an issue at SOU.

With all the "gloom and despair" being talked about flybe on other threads I thought I would comment on their offering for S19.

As already reported flybe are reducing Southampton to 5 round trips per day and Jersey drops from 8 to 5 per week. Amsterdam is looking to increase from 3 to 4 per day. Other than that it looks as if they will still be basing 7 aircraft at Manchester.

Just been looking for flights MAN-NWI for May, the route is not displaying, does anyone know if this route has been chopped ??

It is a Loganair route. No longer part of the FlyBe franchise. Take a look to see if it appears on their website (I haven't checked).

Good luck!

Looking at the timetable, it seems that Newquay is being boosted for summer.

BE353 departs 1015 Monday to Friday (1020 on Monday)
BE355 departs 1350 Monday to Friday

Jersey and Lyon daily
Toulouse back to 5 weekly

Saturday departures at 1355 and 1635
Sunday departure at 1635

so 13 weekly to Newquay. Unfortunatley, the 1st service isn't using a Newquay based aircraft so not really tied into that hub bank.

Virgin expected to launch takeover bid for Flybe tomorrow according to Sky breaking news citing "sky sources"

If the deal goes through And it's a big IF in my view, you do wonder if the focus will be on Manchester with many other obscure routes in for a cull.

And where on earth does this leave Birmingham in what could be another punishing blow?

The press release says the focus will be on connections at Manchester and Heathrow to Delta & Virgin Atlantic. London Southend expansion may also be considered.

A cull in routes and reduction of aircraft is expected. Birmingham is not mentioned at all in the press release.

A little bit of 'Ups and Downs' for Flybe.

They increase Dusseldorf from 3 to 4 per day for Summer 2019 with a Dusseldorf originating aircraft. Flight arrives 0750z and departs 0845z

However the Glasgow route drops from 3 to 2 with the removal of the evening service at 1840/1945z.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
