From experience SQ charge a lot more to fly direct rather than with EK via DXB. Despite having travelled extensively around the Far East, not once have I used SQ. I find them to be too expensive.

I'd be more inclined to use SQ to go to Houston, they appear more competitively priced in that direction.

Emirates for me in November, best flight options out of MAN, best price, = no brainier.

I agree, IAH flights are very reasonably priced compared even to a UA 752 to EWR!

I don't doubt the cost, but the present position (for November) is that SQ are cheaper. It may be that they have a sale on, or it may be a reflection that landing at MUC has a cost to it, part of which is passed onto passengers from MAN?

I feel confident that the non stop service will help traffic to SIN and beyond.

However, unless they plan multiple flights from MAN (unlikely) the choice of departure times offered by EK and others cannot be matched.

Presumably the loads will broadly track the increase of seat capacity. When they eventually come out it will be interesting to see the October spike in loads to DXB.

I had a report that the outbound EK22 was full barring 3 seats in First and One in business. Interestingly, all 5 F class passengers were full fare paying too, not points or invol upgrades.

It's good to hear that - what is the overall level of F demand at MAN?

Emirates and SQ have a small offering, from the discussion a few weeks ago I beleive that's it? Aside from the MEB3 I can't think of any other likely to offer F in the future?

Emirates says that bookings for travel over the next six months between the UK and Christchurch have seen an annual increase of 10 percent. To Auckland, bookings from the UK have seen an annual increase of

• Gatwick + 113%
• Heathrow + 109%
• Manchester + 65%

An interesting article on businesstraveller.com, showing that the demand for travel between MAN-CHC has increased by 10% and MAN-AKL by 65%. Obviously LON-NZ is a much bigger market. It is worth noting that EK's other GB gateways (NCL, GLA, BHX) also saw noteable growth.

Hopefully, MAN figures will grow even further with the addition of a third 388 flight.

It would be interesting to know what the figures for NZ travel are like on CX or Singapore with their codeshare with Air New Zealand and gateway in Wellington.

From memory I think the BHX figure was in the fifties and NCL/GLA were in the 30%s but not sure.

It's good to see the various routes to NZ doing well. It's a beautiful country and relatively inexpensive.

There are loads of routes to get to AKL from MAN one stop one ticket. from next year it can be done via SIN, DXB, DOH, HKG, PEK, IAH, SFO. Looking further ahead we may also add BKK, LAX, YVR.

The timings for EK work well. If you want to arrive in the morning the night flight is the one to take - which I don't think any other carriers offer.

Some points:

-'Emirates has played a sizable role at Manchester, providing direct services to the Middle East and beyond from Dubai International Airport for over 20 years. Currently, Emirates has two Airbus A380s and one Boeing B777-300ER flying into Manchester providing these services. From January 2017, the airline will be incorporating three daily A380 flights to Dubai, which will expand the number of seats.'

-'In the 1990s, Emirates was only carrying 25,000 passengers per week to 23 different destinations around the world. In 2016, the airline has carried 610,000 passengers from Manchester alone, even before the end of the year. Up to now, this is a 9.5% increase compared to the previous year and the airline aims to conclude the 2016 financial year by carrying over a million passengers when the three-times-daily service commences.' (They clearly mean three times daily A380 service)

If the current rate of growth continues Id be surprised if the old EK23/24 flight wasn't resurrected.

However, the MEB3 are getting into the position where they are probably carrying so much one stop connecting traffic to certain places that direct flights start to become more competetive.

We have seen that with CX to HKG, and seem likely to see it again with TG to BKK.

I think with cargo growing, a fourth daily 777 would be pretty well placed.
