Yes - if the extra flight is commenced with the B77W that is a fair increase of capacity.

The desire might be to have all A380 ops, with a dedicated freighter but the current configuration looks pretty sensible to me. Certainly the TP is anticipating more A380 visits in the future and accommodating them.

Just pricing up a trip to Dubai for next year but only looking at the ME3, BA and VS. Out 10.04.17 and return 17.04.17. EK = £518. QR = £573 EY = £657 BA =£840. VS doesn't offer a connecting flight but LHR-DXB is £587.

In case you're think that they are going cheap ex-MAN, here's the 7 UK and Irish airports they serve from most expensive to cheapest for the same dates:
NCL £553 MAN £518 DUB £512 (equivalent) LHR £510 BHX £506 GLA £503 LGW £483.

It's probably a reflection of available capacity.

NCL is 1x daily whereas at the other end of the spectrum BHX/LGW have recently got or will receive capacity increases.

We are obviously expecting a capacity increase at MAN which is likely to reduce prices to soak up excess capacity.

Wow! Will the morning flight be a 3 class or 2 class and where is the announcement?

Edit: I have found the announcement

So that is...
517 seats in a morning
489 seats in the afternoon (according to seatguru)
615 seats in the evening

So 1,621 seats daily.

It will be interesting to see how they address the cargo issue. Do they bring a dedicate freighter in, or do they quickly add a 4th daily?

Here is the conundrum we face re cargo. As MAN-focused observers, we ask how will Emirates accommodate the overspill cargo from MAN ... a dedicated freighter or a fourth daily passenger flight? Whilst at the airline HQ they simply arrange afew more trucks to road cargo down south. None of the packages lodge a complaint. And the time differential incurred is of no consequence to shippers. Everyone is fine with it ... except the enthusiasts.

However, the 11% increase in seats offered on the route is great news. Interesting to note three different configs of A388 being used as well. Should ensure plenty of variety!

The issue now faced is that there are only 6 B77W flights to the UK now.

One to Gatwick, two to Birmingham, one to Newcastle and two to Glasgow.

In the opposite side, there are now 13 A380 flights to the UK. 7 to Heathrow, 3 to Gatwick and 3 to Manchester.

There is however, 3 weekly SkyCargo at Heathrow.

So, there isn't really much cargo capacity for the freight to be trucked down to, therefore, something will inevitably give, as long as Emirates value the cargo side of the business.

Manchester has a daily trucks from Amsterdam inbound, and outbound to Dublin/Cork and Shannon and several to Birmingham.

As ever many of those UK bound boxes find themselves ejected in the low countries and loaded on 40 tonne wheels for a days roading !

Question does this dynamic change when out of the EU ?

User - what do you see as the cargo solution (if any?). The drop off in cargo capacity is significant but not catastrophic so maybe they can live with it for now?

Of course, one option for shippers is to make greater use of cargo space on other long-haul carriers heading east. Freight forwarders are not necessarily brand-loyal. Etihad, Qatar, Oman Air, Saudia, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Hainan Airlines etc. MAN is blessed with alot of eastbound options these days. And no cargo-challenged A380's on any of those services.

Been wondering about the BHX news. Not great, but seems odd given the all A380 change at MAN and the switch of the A380 service at BHX.

What is going on?

Is it a cargo issue? Are Emirates having a root and branch review of their UK operation?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
