Anyone know why UAE18 is being shown as cancelled on both flight status and Dubai International Aiport arrivals board, ive also checked on flightradar24 and there is no EK18.

Dubai Arrivals for Manchester Flights

I have found the reason due to Emirates A380 service being cancelled.

UAE17 operating from Dubai International to Manchester took off at 08:51 Local Tine, 56 minutes after scheduled, the aircraft climbed out off Dubai as normal then shortly after take off the aircraft turned around and headed back to Dubai touching back down at 09:15, it was later reported the aircraft had experienced technical difficulties meaning the aircraft needed maintenance requirements which means the flight had to be cancelled and passengers moved onto later flights.

UAE18 was cancelled due to this.

Emirates to expand, yet again!!!

Now official, that as of 1/6/2012, the morning EK21/22 will become a 3 class B777-300ER, meaning an increase of 242 seats each day.

Seems the Middle Eastern's are unaware the UK could be looming back into recession again!

Am I right in saying that currently MAN sees a 330, a 777-300 and a 380 each day?

Are they all 3-class?

Currently, MAN sees:

EK21/22
06:55-08:35
A330-200 - - - Changes to B777-300ER 3 class
3 class

EK17/18
11:25-13:55
A380-800
3 class

EK19/20
19:10-20:45
B777-300
2 class

Its interesting to note, that since 1st September 2010, Emirates has increased MAN by 866 seats per day!!!

Thanks for the details re equipment.

My wife and I have used Emirates for flights to/from Australia on two occasions in the past 14 months, last year from/to Birmingham and last month from/to Gatwick.

I try to keep abreast of the various Emirates operations from the UK airports for this reason. It may be that next time there will be a good offer using MAN.

Dubai Airport seems to be bursting at the seams with both passengers and aircraft. When we arrived there from Melbourne at 0500 local time last week we had a very long taxi to a remote stand that was followed by a 15-minute bus ride to the terminal building. The same thing happened in reverse last year on the way to Oz. Seems incongruous to use remote stands at such a modern airport thought there are parts of the terminal that are still scruffy and old fashioned.

Emirates seems to be very competitive with their prices - we use a well-known long haul travel agency specialist and it's invariably Emirates that provides the best deals for our purpose.

Well, one reason to choose MAN is the A380. Not only for the A380 experience, but, Im lead to believe the A380 flights use a separate terminal to the other flights (or very soon will be).

Well I can say this, there plan for them to keep the A330 at MAN and they are to set up a form of hub and operate MAN - JFK

Wish it was true, but, unfortunately due to competition they will only operate DXB-JFK direct. It would put them at a disadvantage to operate one of the flights with a stop en-route.
Also, the reason the A330 has been replaced is that they are retiring at least 4 next year. MAN/ATH/LCA and HKG have all been upgraded from the A332 to B777.

and what about NCL, the A330 operates daily into there?

It will be changed as deliveries allow.

I've heard there are 2 main waves of retirements planned.

2012 (confirmed)

MAN/LCA/HKG/ATH

2013 (or sooner if deliveries allow)

FRA/NCL/DUB/CMN

How come the morning 777-300 is a 3 class service and the evening service on the 777-300 is only 2 class?

Well, interesting to note is that Emirates have now upgraded the evening flight to carry and sell F class from 1/9/12.

This means that all 3 flights will now carry F class, and represents a total capacity of 92 First class seats every day from Manchester in 2012.

Well that is news for Manchester. Although i don't believe the evening service will stay a B777 for long, if a colleague of mine is correct that flight is due an upgrade to another A380!!

I didn't know there was so much demand for a Dubai service from MAN. I suppose it is the north's gateway to Asia and Australia...

Correct. Ive been informed the EK19/20 will be upgraded to an A380 on 1/6/2013.

Also, Emirates have plans to add another afternoon flight in 2013 too.

EK023 DXB 09:55 MAN 13:45 B77W F/J/Y MTWTFSS
EK024 MAN 16:25 DXB 03:35 B77W F/J/Y MTWTFSS

Looks like EK17 today is being operated with a B777-300 rather than the usual Airbus A380

As there are 4 A380s WFU to be inspected for wing cracks, each A380 destination has to share the downgrades to B77W's to allow the checks.

LHR has had the service increases to A380's postponed, JNB/PVG have had A380 suspensions until April, and places like MAN/FCO have had ad-hoc downgrades.

MAN will see a B77W on the EK17/18 on the 17/18 and 24th March to accommodate the checks.

Not looking good for Airbus really is it.... after all the initial delays and now repairs are having to be carried out, I think I could see a few airlines lower down on the delivery list cancelling their orders if they don't pull their finger out.. :reallyshocked:

I wish I had known before waiting nearly a hour to take a picture of the A380 on Saturday!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
