There’s only so much in Milan I visited for one day and felt like it was enough time. Then again I didn’t fancy spending a couple thousand in the designer shops!

Agreed that central Milan does not offer as much as some other cities, although there are several little-known attractions (canals with a monthly market, you can walk on the cathedral roof, and some very interesting contemporary architecture to name but three). There are also many excellent restaurants to suit all budgets.

Furthermore, you can easily reach either Lake Como or Lake Maggiore as a day trip from the central station (many other day trips are available since Milan is a major transport hub, and even Switzerland is not far away!). Alternatively, flying into MXP you don't have to go to central Milan at all. One change of train from the airport takes you to Como, a pleasant city on the lake of the same name, with a funicular to get up into the mountains.

As mentioned by other posters it is difficult to understand why such a significant route has been underserved ex-BRS for several years.

Knock

Ryanair winter programme for 2019-2020 gradually appearing. Knock is shown for next winter at its usual summer and winter 3 x weekly. Knock was only re-introduced as a winter route this winter having been summer only for the best part of the past decade.

Warsaw Modlin

I've just finished posting something in the BRS Wizz Air thread where I made the comment that at least BRS still has some sort of Warsaw route - to Modlin with Ryanair.

I hope I haven't spoken out of turn because a post on that other forum has just appeared saying that Ryanair is reducing its Modlin base by two aircraft and cancelling 12 routes.

The two UK routes that are reportedly to be axed are Newcastle and Belfast International.

A woman admitted being drunk on a Ryanair aircraft involving BRS - this time a flight from Poznan. Earlier this month another woman was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for being drunk in an aircraft and common assault on a Ryanair Bristol-Alicante flight.

The woman on the Poznan flight appeared at Bristol Crown Court and admitted being drunk in an aircraft. She fared better than the other woman in that she was sentenced to 180 hours unpaid work and a total of £250 costs and victim surcharge.

Winter is starting to be loaded . No real change other than a few timing changes
I note that Ryanair is continuing wth Malta at 3 x weekly next winter. It increased from 2 x weekly to 3 this winter. Next winter also sees CWL and EXT to Malta both at 2 x weekly. That's an increase of over 130% in seating provision from the south-west corner of Britain.

What is the attraction of Malta in the winter? The likes of Palma aren't operated at all by Ryanair in winter from south-west Britain, and until the present winter Ryanair only operated BRS-MLA at 2 x weekly in winter. What is the reason for the apparent sudden increase in popularity of this island?

The advantages of being able to invest in your own economy!

Possibly down to the partnership with Air Malta and thus the Malta tourist board. In other words, subsidies....

Yet Ryanair is axing its Belfast International-Malta route, along with three Polish routes from BFS, with an airline spokesman saying, "Regrettably, at a time of high fuel costs, low fares, and a weak UK market, Ryanair's Belfast services will be reduced, pending the abolition of APD in Northern Ireland."

Malta still has to abide by EU state aid regulations though.

Interestingly that route only started last year though they do have competition there in Jet2.

Temperatures still in the upper teens or low twenties centigrade, sunshine, price, uncrowded hotels, walking, history. So much to like! I've only ever been to Malta in the winter, and wouldn't consider going there in the summer months.

Chacun à son goût!

I stayed in Malta a few years back in july time.It was hot and lots of people around but not crowed. I would have no problems going back to Malta in the summer time. And 1 of the best thing is its still so British. I still get the impression people under rate the island.

Summer 2019

I've compared summer 2019 with summer 2018 for the main summer months (May-September) and there is a small increase in rotations each month.

Summer 2019 sees 33 routes, one more than summer 2018. Milan Malpensa and Seville are new but Reus has been axed, albeit it only operated once a week in July and August last year.

May sees 122 weekly rotations, up 2 on 2018. Venice is up 1, Kaunas down 1 and Seville is new (up 2)

June sees 129 weekly rotations, up 8 on 2018. Alicante up 3, Palma up 1, Venice up 1, Kaunas down 1, Milan MXP and Seville new (both up 2)

July sees 130 weekly rotations, up 8 on 2018. Alicante up 4, Palma up 1, Venice up 1, Warsaw Mod up 1, Kaunas down 1, Gdansk down 1, Milan MXP and Seville new (both up 2), Reus axed (down 1)

August sees 130 weekly rotations, up 5 on 2018. Alicante up 2, Venice up 1, Warsaw Mod up 1, Kaunas down 1, Gdansk down 1, Milan MXP and Seville new (both up 2), Reus axed (down 1)

September sees 129 weekly rotations, up 4 on 2018. Alicante up 2, Venice up 1, Kaunas down 1, Gdansk down, Dublin down 1, Milan MXP and Seville new (both up 2)

Has Reus been axed. I seem to remember it was during March last year that they eventually released Reus flights. Also there is a morning gap on Thursdays till around quarter past eleven that I’m sure could be used.

Reus is still shown in the calendar but with no dates against it. If it is reinstated (probably only weekly in July and August as last summer if it does re-appear) I will amend this post in due course.

Incidentally, there is a bit more growth overall in summer 2019 over summer 2018 than there was in summer 2018 over summer 2017.

May 18 + 4, May 19 + 2
June 18 + 6, June 19 + 8
July 18 +1, July 19 + 8
August 18 -6, August 19 + 5
September 18 + 4, September 19 +4

Summer 17 31 routes
Summer 18 32 routes
Summer 19 33 routes

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
