That's assuming that the arrival of Wizz on the Polish routes doesn't negatively impact bookings on Ryanair Buzz. If it does then the net gain will be less.

Cluj Napoca and Bucharest will add something to the airport and brand new customers/additional pax through the terminal.

That is precisely the reason I wasn't a huge advocate of Wizz coming in. Whilst they have added 2 new routes, clearly both of which must sell well, the dilution of pax on the Polish routes could, negatively, impact passenger numbers. I hope not.

Well we now have high cost Jet2:, Low cost Cost Ryanair & ultra low cost Wizz. I think between Wizz and Ryanair they will see off Jet2 on the Krakow route. Otherwise they will be ok.

Now let's see what Ryanair's next move is. As I think they will be up for a battle!

Jet2 offer City Breaks to Krakow and offer a different product to the other two. I am hoping they can stay on the route tbh. Wizz Air's timings on return from Krakow are shocking.

100% they'll be up to battle. However I hope this will in the longer term result in for example an additional based aircraft. Although rumour has it there's a mutual respect between Ryanair and WizzAir. A unspoken "you don't go here and we wont go there" sort of thing.

Another data analysis spurred on by @Scottie Dog

August 2022 - North of England Airport Stats

The below table shows the year-to-date terminal passengers for airports in the "North of England". BHX can also be added so let me know if you would like it included.

The first column shows that LBA had 2,703,433 terminal passengers over the last year up until August 2022 (only ~27,000 behind EMA and ~300,000 behind LPL)

The next column shows that LBA is currently the 14th largest airport (passenger numbers wise) out of all UK airports (the stats don't include IOM, JER, GCI etc)).

The last column shows that LBA grew by 11% in August 2022 when comparing the same data from July 2022 - which is better than any other airport in the region.

The rate of change at LBA over the last six months has been more than at other airports, just ahead of EMA, LBA and DSA.

The ranking however, is based purely on the the number of passengers each airport handles in the year - not on the rate of change. The 13 airports above LBA in the rankings will probably have handled more pax over the 6 months than LBA, so LBA may well be still in 14th place.

LBA will remain the 14th largest airport in the UK unless it handles more passengers than EMA over the last year at which time it will be the 13th largest airport in the UK. When the Sept figures are released, who knows LBA may be "promoted"!

Maybe, but the ranking is based purely on the the number of passengers each airport handles in the year - not on the rate of change - you're right though that would also be an interesting statistic.

LBA will remain the 14th largest airport in the UK unless it handles more passengers than EMA for example at which time it will be the 13th largest airport in the UK. When the Sept figures are released, who knows LBA may be "promoted"!
Well it might be next year with us getting Wizz air and also more with TUI. But we will have to see.

My comment was based on reports that for a number of months during the summer, LBAs.passenger.figures exceeded both LPL and EMA..

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
