As much as i want to say yeah well done, lets celebrate. I can't.

I won't until the Dec 2012 figures are released, and thus the yearly count is down. As in my eyes, thats when the true affect of further capacity being added, new routes, extra frequnecys all come to light. Plus the fact TOM now have the SSH&TFS which should enable extra capacity.

How can you have an early April? Comes round the same time next year.

What I can't get my head round is that we have got all these new Ryanair services this year, plus the Knock, and yet we still manage to drop by 4.5%.

Manchester and Newcastle were up 3.1% and 1.1% respectively.

The only consolation is that Liverpool plunged by 19.9%.

I must say I flew out of LBA on March 29th (Thursday) and the airport did look extremely congested with people here, there and everywhere, and the main construction work hadn't really begun! The only issue was that access to some areas where there was previously seating had been blocked off - meaning it looked busier than it actually was.

I did expect the figures to be on par with the year before as, as I previously said, the airport was busy and a lot of the passengers I saw would have probably returned in April as April virtually began a few days after I left, and would have actually begun on the Sunday.

I don't know what effect the economy has..?! We have slipped back into negative growth and back into recession effective of April 25th this year, so many people might be keeping hold of whatever left over dosh they have, in preparation of anymore job losses that are on the way.
I am one of the fortunate ones, who will be travelling again in the Summer, and this might be what a lot of other people are doing as well, and booking flights and holidays for the Summer holidays which kick in on the 19th of July!

Largely because Jet2 started their summer programme earlier in S11 than they have in S12. Easter was weekend of April 22nd last year, so things like Nice and extra flights to Malaga etc were all kicking in during the build up to this. There were nearly 5,000 passengrs on the Jet2 service to Nice last year and this year it didn't start until May.

Part of the reason the airport management are looking to carriers such as Monarch is to make the passenger flow through the airport less sensitive to Jet2's scheduling. Jet2 run their own business (and run it very well in my opinion) but if you are in the airport's shoes you can understand why they wish to reduce the variability you get from having one carrier dominating the programme.

Unrealistic to expect Knock to make a major difference. 3 x weekly means that even if you get 50 passengers on every flight, that's 300 passengers a week; 1300 month. Not really going to move the needle and I think the actual number was closer to 800 in the first month of operation.

Well, the CAA have released the provisional figures for May but as per usual, LBA are not there. Has anyone who works at the airport heard whether there is an increase over last year?
Apologies, but I have this "thing" (it's not contagious) about the passenger figures.

CAA Passengers stats for May 2012

A total of 275,567 passengers used the airport during May down -3.8% on May last year.

Rolling year passenger figures stand at 2,909,007 down - 0.1%
2909007

Total number of flights during May amounted to 2842 down -9.8% on May last year.

Total flights for the rolling year were 31,728 down -8.8%

What's interesting is some of the Ryanair routes have really low figures - I personally feel that their mix of routes is wrong for LBA and they need to head east and to the Nordic countries.

Did all the timetabled Ryanair rotations operate in May?

I thought the Ryanair Bristol load factors were low on some routes in May until I discovered that several rotations had not operated during the month. Conversely extra rotations have been put into the timetable there for August.

The LBA passenger figures in total for May are not bad at all. There were nearly 10% fewer flights but passenger numbers were down less than 4% compared with May 2011.

I seem to remember a post on here that Ryanair had dropped some flights on a couple of routes, at least until the peak season/school holidays?

CAA stats are out but as usual the LBA figures for last month are late so they are not listed yet.

Is it the case do we feel that LBA are always late providing the figures. If so why?

Somebody told me they are always late when they are down whether that's true or not?

From memory they seem to be late every month, whether up or down.

That's my feeling too, White Heather, though very occasionally they do appear in the first batch.

The stats were updated this morning, and we were up 7.5% in June to 342,909. Rolling year now 2,932,454. Well done LBIA.

Excellent results after a couple of months of decline earlier in the year. Based on that we should be well past the 3m mark next year.

some good performances especially on the Spanish and Eastern Europe routes. Nice to see Bourgas doing well up 143% and Berlin off to a good start.

Last year Bourgas went via Humberside and I believe it goes direct this year which will account for the percentage increase there.

Good to see an increase! hopefully the next few months will also see a big increase. Can anybody share any stats on any large increases or decreases on routes too and from LBA?

CAA Passengers stats for July 2012

A total of 369,470 passengers used Leeds Bradford airport during July up -2.3% on July last year.

Rolling year passenger figures stand at 2,940,588 up - 0.2% on the previous twelve months.

Just 59,412 short of the magic 3 million passengers. Can this still be achieved this year?

So is the figure up 2.3%..?

That "-" confused me for a minute then as I was reading it as; up minus 2.3%... :fool:

You are not alone Tom!

Any increase is good and 2.3% is very good at the busiest time of year and must translate into quite a lot of passengers. August will be very interesting!

What are the chances of reaching 400 000 pax for August? It would need an increase of 10% on last year which may be too much. If they do, then the 3 million mark may be achieved this calendar year.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
