I have to ask as I think I'm getting wrong.

Are the passenger numbers calculated between Jan 1st - Dec 31st? Or different? 

Your answers would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it matters. It can be the rolling year passenger statistics or the January to December figures. Either way, neither have ever reached 3m up to date.

It was stated today by the airport MD that passenger numbers at LBA next year are expected to increase by 10 -12% - an increase of up to 300,000 pax, which should put LBA at the very top of the year on year passenger growth tables in the UK.

The provisional CAA stats for November were due to be released yesterday but weren't.

The chances are that they will now be published on Monday (17th).

The CAA website is having downtime for maintenance this weekend so that may have delayed things.

A total of 140,814 used Leeds Bradford Airport during November 2012, up just 0.1% on November 2011

Rolling year passenger numbers stand at 2,973,631 up 1.2% on the previous twelve months.

I would think that is pretty much as expected, given the drastic reductions during November by Jet2 and the loss of Flybe routes such as Exeter and Aberdeen and BMi suspending Edinburgh. Even a slight growth is a positive in the current climate. There will be many heading in the opposite direction no doubt.

Well I’ve got to admit I thought the figures for November 2012 would have been a lot worse than that. It looks like the airlines have fewer seats available but they are managing to put more bums on seats so filling there aircraft.

Also we should see positive growth for the next 12x month’s pax figures. Hopefully we will hit that magic 3 million rolling figure very soon with all this expansion taking place...

When does the annual statistics for 2012 come out?

The provisional CAA figures for December will be published around the middle of January as Seasider points out.

However, these will contain route analysis for international and domestic routes for that month only, plus the monthly passenger numbers and 12-month rolling figure which in December's case of course will be the figure for the calendar year of 2012.

If you are asking about the comprehensive individual route figures for 2012 as a whole they will be published by the CAA in March if past years are a guide.

Rolling year passenger numbers, also the year 2012 total stands at 2,968,708 up just 1.1% on the previous twelve months.

Very disappointing figures which will no doubt be linked to the low wage rises vs higher cost of living along with Air Passenger Duty.

Well I've got to say i'm not surprised to be honest with you. With all the flights and routes that have been dropped it won’t have helped for December's figures even though we had the new route to Heathrow, Munich and Grenoble start up..

Barcelona = Dropped by Ryanair for winter & Reduced service by Jet2
Venice Treviso = Dropped by Ryanair for winter
Faro = Dropped by Ryanair for winter & Jet2 suspended until Xmas but ran all Dec 2011
Cyprus Paphos = Dropped by Jet2 for winter
Rome = Dropped by Jet2 but ran in Dec 2011
Funchal = Dropped by Jet2 but ran in Dec 2011
Murcia = Jet2 suspended until Xmas but ran all Dec 2011
Edinburgh = Dropped by bmi and not replaced
Exeter = Dropped by Flybe and not replaced
Aberdeen = Dropped by Flybe & But still have route operated by Eastern Airways
Amsterdam = Jet2 reduced frequency compared to December 2011 when it ran twice daily.
Belfast Int'l = Jet2 reduced frequency compared to December 2011 when it ran twice daily.

I've got to admit the New York charters didn't do so good this year for Jet2 as the pax fig's were down -28% from 899 pax in 2011 to just 643 in 2012. Also and the London Heathrow route only carried 5,580.

Don't forget for the New York, the first departure was on the 29th November this year so around 220 will show in Novembers figures hence the apparent drop for December. Both flights were fully booked outbound and return.

Yeah I had totally over looked that lbia, well pointed out!

Saying that we should see growth in December 2013 as Jet2 seem to have a much bigger programme on sale so far, and that's without the ski flights added yet!
Monarch will have more flights operated by the based aircraft and by then had plenty of time to build awareness of the brand around the region. Meanwhile British Airways shuttle flights should be doing a whole lot better as well. To be honest I really just hope we can keep hold of what we have got without losing more routes and passengers..

When it's writen in Black and white in front of you it's easy to see why there was a slight drop in pax figures. If it wasn't for BA's new heathrow shuttle the figure would have been much worse! Bigman I think Bristol is still operating isn't it? Eastern? Figures hav'nt been too good for the route recenty due to bmi regional starting BRS-ABZ direct but I don't think it has been pulled.

On a positive note apart from this month which will be touch and go I expect 2013 will be a major growth period for LBA.

Good point LBA787 (you might want to ditch the 787 bit the way they are performing this month). There are no 2012 figures shown for Bristol, but I am sure you are right. No figures yet for Aldergrove either.

I also forgot to mention some notable increases such as;-

Tenerife - up 45% to 9540
Glasgow up 42% to 736
Malta up 39% to 2675
Riga up 39% to 2688
Belfast City up 27% to 8472 - surely must be time for ER195's on this route

Bigman I’ve just worked out after checking the daily logs for last month that British Airways did 158 rotations (79 LBA-LHR & 79 LHR-LBA) in December 2012 using mainly 130 seat Airbus A319 aircraft which equated to available capacity of 20,540.

The actual passengers figure carried in December 2012 by British Airways was 5,580. So that works out at about an average load of about 27% on an Airbus A319 which is about 35 passengers per flight.

Taking into account that the first flight up and the last flight back to LHR are always very low loads, some of the others must have been reasonable considering the time of year the route was launched. I would hope to see those figures at least doubled in January. BA must know that the timings are wrong for the first and last sectors though - the solution is simple, but expensive. A based aircraft at LBA!
