Heathrow very encouraging considering it was on 2x daily rotation including the late flight south for much of the month!

Assuming 2 rotations a day for the month that is an average load of 86.

The CAA have just released the provisional December 2014 passenger stats and it looks like the Leeds/Bradford figures are haven't been submitted as yet as they seem to be missing.

Source: http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid ... fld=201412

Good news is that London Heathrow have submitted there figures. Even though British Airways reduced to 2x daily over the festive period they still managed to carry 10,525 passengers on the London Heathrow route in December 2014, which is up +11% on December 2013. Meanwhile Flybe flew 11,677 on the Belfast City route which is again up +5% on December 2013.

Full stats now out. Up 6.6^ in December (153,824). Rolling year 3,263,297.

Flights were up 18.4% on December 2013, which is good news, even though only gave us 6.6% increase, means a lot of capicity in the system. After months of decline, good to see our noses in front for a change.

Lots of rotations by Aer lingus and especially flybe. Some of the loads haven't been too good but hopefully the summer will get those up and we will be on for a record year once again.

I have a few friends who are jet2 crew in the summer then work in the office in the quieter winter months. They work in the holidays department at the mint building in Leeds taking bookings etc by phone. They said bookings for jet2 holidays ex LBA are through the roof with a lot of flights already full and there's talk of extra flights or upgrades during peak summer from LBA as demand is now outweighing supply on certain days during the peak summer July/August. Offering people holidays from MAN and NCL isn't going down well with most.

We shall see whats in the pipeline. If these girls are right hopefully jet2 will add something extra and not just use it to push up yield. Leeds has a huge catchment with many people back in employment and looking to treat themselves for the first time in 5-6 years!

This could explain why Jet2's prices from LBA are very pricey! with them offering EMA or MAN at a cheaper option. Monarch have cracking prices for summer 2015, hope these are selling well!

Well I guess they have to fill that Manchester based Airbus A330-300 up some how. By offering lower priced flights and Holiday's makes sense I suppose. But in the longer term it might just bite Jet2 in the bute, Hopefully they will see the light and add some extra flights and capacity into there Leeds/Bradford programme for summer.

If not, I'm sure there loyal Leeds/Bradford based customers aren't stupid, they will start looking around at the other options available to them, I know I would!. Thus meaning they leave Jet2 altogether and switch to rival's Monarch, Ryanair and Thomson's services whom I bet will all happily take there money and carry them on flights from Leeds/Bradford this summer instead.

Or they could fill the A330 by double dropping it in at LBA to pick more punters up en route (only joking!!!)

Some January stats are out. Not great reading so far.

Aberdeen - 405 - Down 48% - Do we really have 2 airlines on this route????
Belfast City - 10200 - Down 7% - first time we have seen a drop for a long time
Glasgow - 719 - Down 12%

But the good news is that Heathrow was 9534 which is 10% up on last year.

I would take the Aberdeen figures with a pinch of salt to be honest.

The figures always seem low and don't reflect the figures I see at work

I would think those figures reflect the number of cancelled flights during January, many of which were domestic, and not all due to LBA weather either. Aberdeen was also snow closed at times during the month as I recall, and possibly Belfast and Glasgow. It can't be a co-incidence that all the airports Bigman has mentioned suffered with weather problems during January - can it?

I'm far from convinced the FlyBe Flyshuttle numbers for Aberdeen, Southampton and Jersey are reporting correctly on the CAA stats published, if December 2014 is an example to refer to. During that month, the stats show the following:

Aberdeen - 497 - down 49%
Southampton - 1352 - down 67%
Jersey - 5011 - up from nothing the previous year

I honestly can't believe the breakdown of these passenger figures to be correct, perhaps when added together the figure is accurate, but I'm sceptical that Jersey had 5011 passengers during the month when compared to the other two destinations.

The stats in so far for Jan 15 seem to be following a similar pattern based on the Aberdeen figures, though the Jersey and full Southampton numbers aren't yet in.

I used the Flyshuttle for the first time this past weekend to Jersey and back. As might have been expected, the majority of passengers disembarked the flight on arrival at Southampton, with only approx 10 people stopping on from LBA and Aberdeen (of course, more new passengers boarded at Southampton). Was a similar pattern on the return flight, about 50 disembarked at LBA, but probably only about 15 of them had originated at Jersey, similar to I had.

CAA stats January 2015

143,150 people carried in the month, up 9% on January 2014. Atms up 14.1%. Rolling total 3,275,028, down 1.4% on a year ago.

Considering the number of cancellations and diversions we had that has to be an encouraging figure.

CAA Provisional Airport Statistics for February 2015 have been released today. Looks like Leeds/Bradford figures are again late this month as they are not fully included in the initial release.

After checking the domestic figures London Heathrow have recorded that British Airways carried 10,965 passengers which is +18% on the same month last year.

Well that's just sods laws isn't it!!! Aberdeen shot up 83% to 939...just as Flybe announce they are pulling of it!!. Also, Belfast City up 9% to 11,412 and even Glasgow was up 6% to 772. Hope the international stats are as encouraging.

Re Aberdeen last year we only had Eastern, so with the provision of 3 flights a day on a Q400, you would expect to see a healthy increase. Frankly, only 939 passengers in the month is poor considering we must have up to 5 flights a day in each direction, most days. I would have hoped to see a percentage increase well into 3 figures!

With flybe leaving the Aberdeen-Leeds route I do wonder how long will it take for Eastern Airways to increase there fares back to normal levels again?

If they don't increase there fares and keep some of the newer low priced fares they have been offerring lately I wonder if some of them extra passengers that have been flying with flybe.com between Leeds and Aberdeen over the last 6 months might actully be tempted to try out the Eastern Airways service. Then in turn it might make it more viable for Eastern Airways to stick either the Embraer Regional Jet's or larger Saab 2000's on all Leeds flights instead of using the smaller Jetstream 41's.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
