You would think that upgrading some rotations to 737 would be the next step for KLM - the E190s are often full. I am not sure if the KLM / Cityhopper distinction may make it more tricky to do. That said, other places are served by both.

Belfast (4%), Southampton (145%), Dublin (14%) and Amsterdam (8%) also saw good increases. I wish KLM would upgrade to 737's and Aer Lingus to A320's

KLM I could see a possible 737-700 on some flights in the future much like BRS has a daily flight operated by mainline KLM this summer. Now don't forget the flight is going back to 4 x daily so that's our increase this year! I think the 737 may come in 2017 if the figures hold up.

As for Aer lingus I'm sorry but I cannot see it. The A320's are much better serving the core european destinations out of the Dublin Hub rather than LBA. LPL is changing from mainline aer lingus to regional because the airbus was simply too big. LBA is very much the same with loads usually around the 50-60's mark.

On further examination of the CAA figures, LBA (3 452 697) have a "rolling year" pax figure bigger than ABZ(3 425 972). I would imagine that difference will increase over the next few months.

The impact of the low oil price on the Oil and Gas industry must've hit ABZ hard.

I don't think the Scottish would be overly keen on leaving the UK at the moment. It's no wonder Nicola is flirting with Europe!

Hopefully If we all vote to leave the E U, Scots will vote to leave us as well.
The present funding for scotland under the Barnett Formula is totally discredited.
Even Lord Barnett before his sad death wrote, that he did it on the back of a cig packet, never expecting it to be existing today as it so slanted to Scotland.
Being the son of a Scotsman, I hear the arguement from both sides, in five years time were going to be asking "Nicola who"

CAA stats February 2016

170,709 passengers handled during the month, up 5.3% on February 2015. Atms were down 6.1%. Rolling 12-month total was 3,461,247, up 5% on a year ago.

I am surprised that no one has spotted something really significant about the figures. We have overtaken Aberdeen and gone 1 place up the table!!!! They dropped 15.7% down to 3,386,482.

Heathrow was up 9% to 11,925
Belfast City was up 6% to 12,183
Southampton was up 154% to 4,041
Amsterdam was up 8% to 18,998
Dublin was up 11% to 22,238

The interlining routes performing strongly once again.

Indeed they have. Without wanting to sound unappreciative, this is because of the downturn in the oil industry rather than an improvement in the performance of LBA. Still LBA has grown nonetheless which should still be applauded.

If you look to my post of 24 Feb you will see that it has been picked up before.

Frankly I only care about LBA and our ability to grow for the future, other airports can look after themselves.
I dont care if we drop twenty places if our own proformance is going forward.
I would have thought a 5% average through the winter months good growth against a back drop of terrorists issues in Europe and other areas. Is certainly not the doom and gloom some people predicted for winter 2015/16.
We have seen on another thread jet2 increasing winter flights for next winter so hopefully this increase can continue and build on the expansion of our airport.

Sorry Seasider. Totally missed your post last month. Not one of my better days yesterday!!

Has anybody done the number crunching to see how many extra passengers we are likely to see after the recent announcements for extra flights from Monarch, Ryanair and Jet2?

March stats are finally out. We were up 8.8% to 3,478,932. Might even hit the 3.5 mark next month with a bit of luck.
In comparison:
Manchester - up 11%
Liverpool - up 17.7%
East Midlands - up 9.3%
Doncaster - down 99.8% (obviously not updated yet but worth a laugh!!)
Newcastle - down 0.5%

Good figures on our interlining routes again:
Heathrow - up 24% to 13,669
Dublin - up 3% to 24,673
Amsterdam - up 3% to 21,429

Excellent increase for what is a winter month. We could be set for a pretty good year.

Yes excellent figures but may be slightly inflated (same for the other airports) as Easter was late March this year which would see an increase in passenger numbers passing through the airport.

True - so based on that fact, April could suffer - but we have new routes now with Vueling and Aer Lingus (Cork). An increase in April would be doubly good news then considering last year April included the Easter traffic.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
