Bristol: CAA Provisional Statistics Update

Use this prefix for new threads for Bristol Airport
Just as an extra to TLY's previous excellent posts, here are my takes on Bristol's August statistics.

NB: Data for Aberdeen is currently not available

As always I use CAA Tables 3, 9, 12.1, 12.2 & 9 for my data- this gives a slight difference in the total passenger numbers.

CAA Stats September 2021

369,204 passengers in the month, up 68% on September 2020. Rolling 12 month total 1.236 million.

CAA stats show these figures for September 2021 for the the top ten UK airports measured by passenger numbers..

Table 01 Size of UK Airports (terminal passengers)

Rolling12-month totals until the end of September:

Heathrow 13,298 million
Stansted 4.474 million
Gatwick 3.829 million
Manchester 3.802 million
Luton 3.363 million
Edinburgh 1.803 million
Belfast Int 1.596 million
Birmingham 1.518 million
Glasgow 1.274 million
Bristol 1.236 million
(next highest is Aberdeen at 890,000)

Table 09 Terminal and Transit Passengers (terminal passengers)

September totals

Heathrow 2,571,017
Stansted 1,116,585
Gatwick 1,032,281
Manchester 974,781
Luton 697,300
Edinburgh 457,324
Birmingham 409,305
Bristol 369,204
Belfast Int 311,344
Glasgow 303,385

BRS's monthly total is 39.8% of that for September 2019, the last pre-pandemic September. The 12 month running total is just 13.8% of the figure for September 2019.

So still a lot of work to do but the signs suggest some grounds for optimism.

First draft of October 2021 statistics are out and shows BRS had 446K pax which is 57 per cent of October 2019. Quite impressive all things considered and surely will be at the top end of recovery compared with other airports percentage wise.

CAA stats October 2021

Confirming Red Flyer's post, CAA provisional stats published today show that BRS handled 445,796 passengers in the month, up 320.7% on October 2020, and perhaps more relevantly (as Red Flyer points out) 57% of the total for October 2019. Rolling 12-month figure was 1,575,534. Atms were up 115.1%.

I've decided to just post an initial report for October as, at present, there are figures missing from various airports and these will effect the final figures - but they probably won't be available for about another month. For some reason the CAA has excluded Birmingham from Table 3 (Movements). When full data is published I'll produce a fresh update. Other tables used are 9, 12.1, 12.2 & 13

My thanks to TLY for his previously posted information.

At the time of writing, the CAA data for November is incomplete. The following files are empty - Table 9 (Terminal and transit passengers) and both Tables 12.1 (International passengers) and Table 12.3 (Domestic passenger route analysis).

As soon as these files are updated I will start my analysis for the month.

CAA stats November 2021

Published at last and show that 313,885 passengers were handled in the month, a rather meaningless 1160.8% rise on November 2020. Atms were up 508.5%. Rolling 12-month total was 1,864,524, down 31.8% on a year ago.

The monthly figure was 59% of the total for November 2019, the last pre-Covid November.

CAA stats December 2021

Published today and show that 271,693 passengers were handled in the month, a 438.3% rise on December 2020. Atms were up 205%. Rolling 12-month total was 2,085,745, down 4.9% on a year ago, which is also the total for the calendar year 2021.

The monthly figure was 46% of the total for December 2019, the last pre-Covid December.

Since July the percentages of the respective month in 2019 are:

July 18.8%
August 32.9%
September 39.8%
October 57%
November 59%
December 46%

The annual total for 2021 is 23.3% of the annual total for 2019, the last pre-pandemic calendar year.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
