hi oldendays
it does seem odd as you say, when they could fly to Malaga or Benidorm from lba, so I can only assume they don't want to give lba any-more routes, but this as always been the case with Thomson & LBA
just my thoughts

Originally, Thomson were going to offer Palma and Ibiza from Duham Tees Valley airport but after they pulled out of MME they chose to relocate the middle sectors of the W pattern to other airports, with larger demand.

  • Tuesday's Palma now W's to Newcastle
Wednesday's Enfidha W's to East Midlands (as planned)
Thursday's Ibiza now W's to Bristol.

For Summer 2015:

  • Tuesday's Palma W's to Birmingham
Wednesday's Enfidha W's to East Midlands (as previous years)
    Thursday's Ibiza W's to Manchester

Anybody know when the Monday night CFU service starts?

Service TOM3136/ TOM3137 commences operation on the evening of Monday 07 July 2014, running during peak summer, ceasing on Monday 15 September 2014.

LBA - CFU: 22:00 - 03:25
CFU - LBA: 04:25 - 05:55

I should have added in my last post that "w" patterns are normally to cover flights from airports which don't have based aircraft, e.g. Humberside and Teesside. As correctly stated Bristol is fully crewed which, I agree, makes this particular pattern a little odd. Maybe a Thomson insider can enlighten us

I'm not a Thomson insider but I can confirm BRS does have a crew base with two B 757s based, whereas the 'w's are B 738 aircraft.

The Thursday IBZ with a LBA aircraft is one of three TOM 'w's into BRS this summer; the others are a Friday to Naples and a Sunday to Enfidha. I believe the Enfidha service is operated by a LTN-based aircraft but I'm not certain where the Naples originates. A Mistral B 734 also operates a Tui Group service from/to Verona at BRS on Saturdays. It seems that the two based 757s are insufficient to service all the TOM routes, hence the visitors.

LBA does seem a long way for an aircraft to operate a 'w' into the south west.

hi all
have just noticed Doncaster is +2 flights making 33 flights per week for summer 2015 from Thompson, hope we also get an increase.but I wont hold my breath

Thomsons are now using the Dreamliner from Newcastle to Florida. I wonder if LBA will get that chance?

Don't know if anyone else has noticed but Thomson have been altering the LBA based aircraft flight schedule for next summer 2015 season. hi lba spotter
I was hoping the airport sales team would talk Thomson into giving lba 3 more flights instead of W pattern away,a Malaga from them would save me 4 trips per year from Doncaster.
regards sm1
p.s are you coming on sat???

Are thomson only doing one flight a week this winter?

Yeap that's Correct. They will be operating a once weekly Tenerife South on Saturdays using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Not great that like come on thomson give us some more winter routes

Looks like Thomson are selling seats on Monarch's Thursday PMI flights as they are now bookable on the Thomson website

hi all
I thought the new re-vamped monarch had stopped selling seats to 3rd party operators? hence no Thomas cook on there flights for 2015. :dunno:

I guess at this stage we shouldn't care less who they are setting flights for so long as the flights are from LBA?

Bit of movement on the Thomson Schedule for Summer 2015.

Tuesdays Palma no longer operates on a W pattern to BHX (this is now done by a EMA aircraft). Instead it returns immediately to LBA, opening up space in the schedule for a new route out of LBA. Be interesting to see what they utilise this space in the schedule with!!.

Tuesdays:
LBA-PMI: 06:50 >10:30
PMI-LBA: 11:45 >13:30

New route to Crete - Heraklion. Guess they have seen a gap in the market knowing that its one of the routes Monarch Airlines has decided to axed for next summer as part of its strategic review.

LBA-HER: 15:00 > 21:10
HER-LBA: 22:10 > 00:40

It also looks like Thomson Holidays are taking seat allocations on selected routes operated by both Monarch and Jet2 next summer 2015.

I'm pleased to see Thomson taking up the dropped Monarch flight to Crete but it is a shame they couldn't find a morning slot for the departure as a 2110 arrival isn't good unless you are staying close to Heraklion.

Jet2 will still pick up much of the Leeds/Heraklion pax if they are operating their am departures in 2015. That afternoon departure from Leeds by Monarch was probably the reason why they seemed not to do too well on the route last year and is probably, along with their reorganisation, the reason why the route was dropped for 2015.

I've just had a look on the Thomson website for a flight to Heraklion next summer and come away with nothing.

No LBA/HER flights are showing but holidays to Crete from LBA are showing as bookable. I am wondering therefore if they aren't selling flight only as they think they will fill the plane with package pax or if it might be that they haven't got round to loading the info onto the flights only page. Strange whichever way.

I've sent a query to Thomson and will come back if and when I get a reply.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
