CAA Stats for October 2019
137,203 passengers used the airport in October down 2.1% on 2018. The rolling year was 1,667,098 passengers up 6.4% on 2018.
Atm's were 1365 -11.8%.

That doesn't seem a bad performance does it, considering the loss of Thomas Cook part way through the month and the scaling back of Flybe?

Yes not as bad as feared. Would've been a very good month if not for the loss of TCX and Flybe going down to 2 aircraft.

4.6% drop isn't as bad as I feared with the loss of the Flybe base and some routes.

Good to see Amsterdam still climbing, also Edinburgh and Dublin.
Yep passenger numbers wise it's been a good year.
Cardiff Airport saw 1,654,920 passengers use the airport in 2019 up 4.8% on 2018.
This is the highest the passenger numbers have been since 2009 when it saw 1,625,000 passengers use it.
There will obviously be a drop next year but overall the airport is in a better condition passenger numbers wise and I hope will go back to an upward trend in 2021.

if it could get an enhanced Ryanair presence or Jet2, or even a bit of both, annual passenger numbers would easily climb well north of 2 million. Either or both might be on the scene in 2021.

CWL followers should also keep an eye on developments across the Severn because if BRS is anchored at its current 10 mppa planning consent figure that would be bound to impact positively on CWL.

It's likely that 2020 will see a drop of about 200,000 passengers from the TCX and Flybe cuts. So that'll put the airport to roughly back to 1.45 million passengers a year. So to get over 2 million would require over 550,000 extra passengers. So what the equivalent of 3 to 4 based aircraft from airlines? The airport management would definitely deserve a pat on the back if they could achieve that growth even if it's spread over 2 to 3 years.

Probably about that. I believe that Jet2 don't typically work their aircraft as hard as easyJet or Ryanair. easyJet invariably does six sectors a day, sometimes eight and sometimes four when longer routes are involved. Ryanair too ferquently does six sectors a day whereas from what I've been told Jet2 will often work four sectors a day per aircraft.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
