Bristol: EasyJet Route News & Base Updates

Use this prefix for new threads for Bristol Airport
To put it mildly it looks like easyJet are doing some serious reshuffling at the moment generally.

For BRS which is one of easyJet’s largest and most dominant regional bases, seeing major year round city routes like Munich, Zurich, and Bilbao paused entirely for over a month will cause significant friction for non leisure and city break travelers.

It will be interesting to see if Ryanair or Jet2 step in to scoop up the lost winter capacity on overlapping routes (like Antalya, Palma, and Murcia), or if this is a broader signal of regional UK leisure demand weakening post New Year.

Could it be down to maintenance of the Bristol fleet so they have no choice but to do this ?

Jet2 are keeping Antalya running all winter long.

Defo a bit of an empty schedule in January.

Airport numbers this coming January are defo going be down I expect.

Least most routes are coming back by Mid of Feb along with Budapest.

Naples is also starting middle of Feb.

Bordeaux should also be on that list as it’s on a pause from 3rd of Jan to 12th of Feb.

They did the exact same thing this Jan and there was no decline in pax numbers on the same month the year before. This is standard practice amongst airlines as January is the quietest month of the year by some distance. I can’t see a large queue of punters for Palma or Bilbao in the height of Jan!

If you monitor Turkey pax numbers they are consistently about 20% down so no great surprise that demand is falling off.

You raise a fair point jan is often a very weak month for airlines where only winter break skiing or winter sun holidays work well. Im hoping it doesn’t hurt January passenger numbers to much just wish we were keeping some city pairs like Zurich or Munich. I’m hoping the lower turkey Pax numbers doesn’t put off Pegasus increasing the amount of flights next summer or Turkish airlines launching Bristol.

If there are lower passenger numbers to Turkey, I can't see Pegasus increasing or Turkish coming in.
Not sure on Turkish honestly as a lot of that will be connecting fliers specially from Bristol as it will be only way do a one stop to Australia or a few other places.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
