I posted previously that in June, July and August this year the monthly load factors were 95.7%, 92.7% and 95.4% respectively.

I've now looked at the whole of 2016 that saw an operation of 2 x weekly for the entire year. January-March had two 320s on the route. April-October saw one 320 and one 319. November-December saw two 319s.

A total of 32,601 passengers was carried in the year which means the load factor throughout the year was around 94%. This was above easyJet's network average. easyJet is highly experienced and adept at yield management so you would think they could find a way of making it work with this level of support.

New route to Stockholm launched by easy jet.. good news for routes up to Scandinavia.. was hoping this might have happened with a new airline however good news all the same. Wonder if we will get anymore?

Late yesterday evening the seat selector showed 125 occupied seats which is a touch over 80% occupancy on the 156-seat A319. The next fight - on Monday - is already at 132 occupied seats which is 84.6% occupancy with several days still to go and the latest fare price is £128.

I know what you mean about a new airline. It's a dichotomy: if easyJet wasn't at BRS the route network probably would not be as extensive and other airlines might turn up, but even with their total output there might not be such a wide-ranging route network as easyJet's.

Stockholm Arlanda

The next outbound flight is on Monday and it's already showing 'sold out'. With Ryanair's next flight to Cologne which is on Sunday also showing 'sold out' the new routes seem to be bedding down well. We know that yield is what counts. The fares on both easyJet and Ryanair have been over £100 per sector on some days with Ryanair. That's the standard fares not the dearer flexi/flexi plus or whatever they are called.

Athens starts on Monday and from the fare price (£44.49 outbound) is not building as quickly. Currently there are 35 unoccupied seats shown, which is actually over 77% load factor and will doubtless build more before Monday. The next flight out looks better with the fare already at £82.49.

Next summer, we already know there will be one extra based aircraft at BRS with EZY. However a quick look shows that there will be 5x A319s and 10x A320s based in BRS in S18, quite an increase on the 7x A319s and 7x A320s based summer just gone!

Has that recently changed Severn - when I last looked it was 9/6. That's excellent news tho. I wonder whether 15 is going to be the final figure because if u look at the end of august there is extra frequencies added to several destinations without reductions elsewhere .

Does Easyjet have routes that are A319 only from BRS? If so will they be sustainable on A320s without cutting frequency?

There are some routes operated only by 319s - Isle of Man is one and the new Stockholm and Athens routes are other examples.*

Some routes have a mix. Where more 320s will particularly be useful is on the likes of EDI and GLA which operate a mix of 319s and 320s. Some sectors on some rotations are sold out each week so an increase in aircraft size is a good way of providing more seats without having to provide additional rotations.

BRS has gradually increased its 320 complement in recent years with some routes/rotations becoming 320 from the previous 319. I'm not aware of any route being axed or reduced in frequency because of it. This is a further progression along that path. Eventually all the easyJet 319s will be phased out of the fleet.

Addendum

* In fact, Athens is operated by 320s on Mondays and 319s on Fridays

The question is; will BRS see the A321's eventually? Especially on the cash cows of Canary, Balearics and Mainland Spain?

I'm sure easyJet are keeping a careful watch over any new carriers, if any, at BRS.

My fault, a more in-depth look and I found that I was incorrect in my last post!

For Summer 18 (I chose a Monday at the beginning of August), there will be 6x A319s and 9x A320s based at BRS. There 46 flights operated by these aircraft and another two flights operated by non-based A320s, one from VCE and one from EDI.

Jerry, regarding routes that are A319 only, on a Monday at the beginning of August 18, the following flights will be operated...

Edinburgh (4x A320 (1x EDI Based))
Glasgow (1x A319, 2x A320)
Belfast (2x A319, 1x A320)
Alicante (2x A320)
Amsterdam (1x A319, 1x A320)
Barcelona (1x A319, 1x A320)
Faro (1x A319, 1x A320)
Malaga (1x A319, 1x A320)
Newcastle (2x A319)
Athens (1x A320)
Copenhagen (1x A320)
Dalaman (1x A320)
Funchal (1x A320)
Ibiza (1x A320)
Isle Of Man (1x A320)
Corfu (1x A320)
Krakow (1x A320)
Rome (1x A320)
Murcia (1x A320)
Nantes (1x A320)
Palma De Mallorca (1x A320)
Paphos (1x A320)
Prague (1x A320)
Berlin SXF (1x A320)
Toulouse (1x A320)
Venice (1x A320 (VCE Based))
Basel Mulhouse (1x A319)
Catania (1x A319)
Paris CDG (1x A319)
Geneva (1x A319)
Inverness (1x A319)
Madrid (1x A319)
Nice (1x A319)
Pisa (1x A319)
Vienna (1x A319)

Later on in August, an extra A320 arrives and takes over one of the A319s schedule (On a Monday, flights to PSA, BFS, AMS, GLA are all upgraded from A319 to A320). The A319 then operates a new Monday flight to BOD and a 4th daily GLA, still leaving two late evening slots free for other routes/flights. At the moment that means 48 flights operated by these aircraft and two flights operated by VCE and EDI based A320s.

That's great work Severn . Does that mean no16 by end of august then ?

Don't be surprised to see A321's at BRS in the future. The first ones aren't being delivered until Jul 18, so it may not be 2018 that they are seen at BRS. A 16th peak summer Airbus isn't out of the question either.

Does anyone know if the BRS based aircraft do W patterns with other airports? I know the Inverness aircraft does Inverness to Luton and the return but is there any other routes they do?

I don't know of any at the moment but stand to be corrected. I think at least one of the weekly LBA-GVA rotations (on Mondays?) when it was running operated BRS-GVA-LBA-GVA-BRS.

Some years ago BRS and NCL operated triangular routes on the first flights of the day. The BRS aircraft would operate BRS-NCL-AGP-BRS whilst at the same time the NCL aircraft would operate NCL-BRS-AGP-NCL. I think a similar programme operated with the first EDI of the day at one time too but all this was probably ten years ago.

The Inverness aircraft does actually return to BRS. I don't believe any of the current Easyjet schedules operate a W pattern into another airport. In previous years I think a GVA rotation operated into BHX.

The Inverness is there and back this winter and next summer. The timings don't allow it to go anywhere else in between. It was the same in the summer this year. In fact, I don't think it's ever operated a W from BRS.

Autumn 2018 launched today. Not a lot to shout about. No gaps filled and those extra frequencies in august for 2 weeks are then reduced back in September. Reports elsewhere that easyJet plan to increase its base to up to 18 aircraft at Manchester so we could lose our status as largest base in uk after lgw and Ltn.

I suppose there could be one or two new routes from easyJet next summer to fill the gaps. If there aren't it will be the first time for a number of years.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
