Many thanks for your information on the previous page, TOGA10.

I wonder which will be the first route for the the spanking new EZGO, alphagolf.

Many thanks alphagolf.

I hadn't realised the apron website is functioning again.

Yeah the apron site is working again, but the changes I was advised of in the email I was sent don't seem to have been actioned yet, I will leave it a week or so and then chase it up again! Gotta keep them on their toes The LocalYokel!

Walked past her this afternoon and thought it looked new, not a spec of brake dust on the wheels.

Looks as though G-EZGO is off to La Rochelle in the morning - now showing on apron website.

Nice shortish rotation to introduce her to easyJet's punters.

Easyjet's New A319 G-EZGO looks like its replacing G-EZBR which is parked on Stand 16L on the eastern apron and is due to depart BRS at 15:50 this afternoon to London Luton. G-EZBR arrived as EZY6078 at 01.16 this morning from Alicante, so will have been parked up most of the day before being ferried to Luton.

Today easyjet sold 157 seats on a 156 seat aircraft going to Ibiza! One passenger put in a taxi to Gatwick for this evenings flight and given the appropriate compensation!

Good to see full flights! :good:

I didn't think that low-cost airlines overbooked.

My wife and I agreed to be bumped from a KLM Cityhopper flight at AMS in the days they operated Saab 340s on the Bristol route.

They have us the equivalent of £250 in Dutch guilders (pre-euro) counted out in crisp bank notes as we sat eating a meal in the first class lounge (meal also part of the bumping deal), flew us to Brussels with Sabena and then to Bristol with Sabena.

It was a Sunday evening and we arrived at BRS just two hours after the Cityhopper. Couldn't believe no-one else would agree to be bumped off - we were amongst the last ones asked.

Apparently the airline chooses flights at random to see how many seats it can sell, knowing it can still make money if it becomes overbooked and having to pay out compensation etc.

My understanding from today's passenger was that she was given 250 euro's and put in a taxi to Gatwick Airport from Bristol Airport for this evening's easyjet flight to Ibiza!

I didn't know this either TheLocalYokel, but you learn something new everyday!

Bristol Airport is easyjet's second biggest base in the UK when it comes to routes served:

Top 5 UK bases on routes served!

1. LGW = 92
2. BRS = 42
3. LTN = 34
4. LPL = 32
5. STN = 30

easyjet has really pushed into LGW, leaving the other two major London airports trailing behind!

Obviously flight frequencies will differ airport to airport!

Just thought it was an interesting fact!

11th based easyjet aircraft an A319 Airbus due to land at 23.50 tonight as EZY8006 from London Gatwick.

11 easyjet aircraft all depart by 07.30 on Friday morning, that's 1,762 seats available on easyjet alone on the first run of the day!

Easyjet has 39 departures on Friday, of which 5 are A320's and the other 34 are A319's!

Total available seats on departures: 6,199

Some mighty impressive figures, never looked at them like this before!

I think that BRS is the largest non-London easyJet base in the UK in terms of based aircraft though LPL has been building up in recent years.

easyJet went through a period of adding at least one additional based aircraft a year at BRS until 2008 when 12 319s were based at peak summer. This is the third year since then that the peak summer has seen 11 aircraft though last year and this year two have been/are 320s.

Looking back to 2008 which, of course, was BRS's busiest ever year with over 6.2 mppa and August that year is the only month in the airport's history ever to have seen more than 700,000 passengers, there were 45 easyJet departures on the corresponding Friday with 39 being 319s and six being B 737-700s (those from NCL and BFS which were still Boeing bases then) - in fact, the early morning 737 in from BFS then went from BRS to Malaga before returning to BFS. A BRS 319 operated to BFS in the morning before going on to Malaga and back to Bristol.

A similar triangular route is operating this year in the morning with BRS-NCL-AGP-BRS and NCL-BRS-AGP-NCL. Last summer if my memory is not faulty EDI was involved in a triangular route as well.

Perhaps when the gloom that still pervades part of the aviation scene lifts we might see that 12th aircraft back at BRS in peak summer.

It has to be hoped that the government won't play around with the apd and allow the constituent countries of the UK to set their own because it will set the smaller English regional airports at a serious disadvantage, especially somewhere like BRS which is so close to Wales. Ryanair might be tempted to move (no great loss in my view though they do provide plenty of numbers from which the airport makes money from ancillary provisions) and even easyJet might pause for thought.

I never believe in governments becoming involved in this way because it artificially skews markets and the outcome can never truly be foreseen, and in the case of BRS and CWL would unfairly reward an airport owner that has spent no money of its own in improving its airport and trying to attract new carriers and routes and penalise a go-ahead and innovative owner not afraid to splash lots of its own cash in order to accumulate and with successful results.

[textarea]easyJet put spring flights on sale from Bristol Airport

easyJet has launched its 2012 spring schedule from Bristol Airport, which includes 40 European routes. More than 6,400 spring flights are now on sale, with more than one million seats available between 25 March and 24 June 2012. Capacity has been added to popular destinations including Crete, Dalaman and Pisa.

Ali Gayward, easyJet UK commercial manager, said: ‘The launch of our spring schedule offers leisure and business passengers the opportunity to book early to secure the best fares on a wide choice of destinations across Europe and the UK. The introduction of our full summer schedule in the coming months will further add to this choice and value, demonstrating our continued commitment to Bristol.’

I have taken a snapshot at Monday 14th May 2012 and the schedule as it stands require 11 aircraft for the early morning departures.

1 EZY6039 06:00 PMI
2 EZY6071 06:05 ALC
3 EZY423 06:30 EDI
4 EZY566 06:30 NCL
5 EZY6011 06:45 MJV
6 EZY6161 06:45 AMS
7 EZY443 07:00 BFS
8 EZY6005 07:00 FAO
9 EZY6113 07:00 NCE
10 EZY401 07:10 GLA
11 EZY6271 07:40 DLM

I think this year the 11th aircraft didn't arrive til the end of July, so things maybe looking better regarding available seats next summer! The question will also be, do they bring in a 12th as in previous years! :D

alphagolf

That's interesting, alphagolf.

The early departures for early May this year were as follows:

1. 0605 EZY 6039 Palma
2. 0625 EZY 6005 Faro
3. 0625 EZY 423 Edinburgh
4. 0630 EZY 6275 Krakow
5. 0700 EZY 6073 Alicante
6. 0700 EZY 6113 Nice
7. 0700 EZY 443 Belfast Int
8. 0705 EZY 566 Newcastle
9. 0730 EZY 401 Glasgow
10. 0800 EZY 6271 Dalaman

All A319s except for the Dalaman which was an A320.

New early morning entrants for May 2012 are Amsterdam and Murcia with Krakow moving out.

Krakow is now shown as a mid morning departure in summer 2012 at 6 x weekly (no Saturdays) against 5 x weekly this summer.

Amsterdam is shown as double daily on Sun, Mon and Fri next summer (single daily for the rest of the week), against single daily this summer. If KLM retains its 4 x daily in summer 2012 there will be a lot of capacity on the route though it's a very popular one of course.

This summer the morning Malaga departs at 0840, operated by the inbound Newcastle-based aircraft that arrives at 0815. That aircraft then returns from Malaga to Newcastle. At the same time the outbound BRS-NCL flies on to AGP and returns to BRS.

This arrangement appears to be continuing in summer 2012 with the Malaga still shown as an 0840 departure and the inbound NCL arriving at 0815.

The timing of departure 11 at 0740 suggests that all eleven departures will be operated by BRS-based aircraft because the timings of the Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast Int inbounds show they are all operated by the early outbound BRS aircraft and these would be the only routes close enough in the time available to permit a triangular route on the lines of BRS-NCL-AGP.

So things certainly appear promising with easyJet next summer and seem to confirm the recent words of the airline CEO that Bristol is one of their most profitable bases.

The only time BRS had 12 based aircraft was peak summer 2008 but they were all 319s. If 12 aircraft are scheduled to operate in peak summer 2012 (and I would think it highly likely though the booking timetables only stretch as far as June so it's not possible to check) it can be safely assumed that at least two will be 320s, as with the current prak summer, which would be the most available easyJet seats ever.

UK director Paul Simmons said: ‘We are adding even more choice in 2012 with the announcement of a host of new destinations from our UK bases in the coming weeks. Watch this space.’

With BRS CEO Robert Sinclair going for new routes at the Routes Conference in Berlin in 2 weeks and the above press release, it seems a bit of a coincidence!

While checking summer 2012, I have noticed that Berlin (SXF) is only on sale til 24th June, is this due to the new Berlin (BER) airport opening?

Most of Berlin Schoenfeld's 30-plus routes cannot be booked after the first week in June next year whilst all the UK routes, including Bristol, are bookable until the last week in June.

I agree with your assumption about the new Brandenberg Airport probably being the reason. It's due to open on 3 June next year and, although it incorporates much of the Schoenfeld site, it may be that easyJet is still negotiating fees, slots etc so is not yet in a position to issue timetables and sell seats beyond next June.

Schoenfeld is an easyJet base and I've not read any suggestion that the airline will pull out.

When I flew into Schoenfeld with easyJet in 2004 it was a small operation though set on a large site and its basic facilities were redolent of the Eastern Bloc whose airport it was in the days when Berlin was partitioned.

UK director Paul Simmons said: ‘We are adding even more choice in 2012 with the announcement of a host of new destinations from our UK bases in the coming weeks. Watch this space.’

So far as I know BRS is still the fifth largest of easyJet's 19 bases after Gatwick, Milan Malpensa, Luton and Stansted so there must be every chance that one or two of the new destinations will feature from Lulsgate.

Harking back to the apparent need for 11 based aircraft from next May a cursory look at August - just released - doesn't indicate another early morning departure, suggesting there may not be the usual extra peak summer based aircraft next year. Unless of course new routes alter this picture.

There seem to be some frequency changes in peak summer 2012 compared with peak summer 2011. This is just a sample and not a complete list because I haven't checked everything but Madeira and Crete appear to have dropped from 3 x weekly to 2 x weekly whereas Bordeaux will be 6 x weekly, up from the current 4, and Amsterdam and Krakow will have extra rotations next summer as mentioned previously.

For some reason Alicante is only shown as single daily in August. The rest of the week is the usual double daily. Seems very odd especially as Malaga remains double daily all week. It wasn't so many years ago that easyJet flew to both Alicante and Malaga from Bristol double daily winter and summer.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
