CWL may see a visit from an Airbus A321neoLR today as part of a test flight from Toulouse which it will depart at 13.40. It will also apparently do a fly over of the Filton factory.

Any one know what aircraft giant 7757 is all about. Its due in at 11.10 from Denver. Its a B762. Flight number is Giant 7762 and reg number should be N767MW.
Its due to depart Monday am. I wondered if its a freight flight.

The airline is Atlas Air and looking at photos of the aircraft it looks like a passenger aircraft.
There is Radio 1s big weekend in Swansea the Volvo Ocean race in Cardiff and i believe Beyonce will be starting her world tour soon. Also Atlas does operate a lot of flights for the US military as well.

F-WTTN A330neo is currently at the airport for hot fuel tests I'm led to believe. Apparently it'll be here a couple of days.

Cardiff had a unique visitor yesterday. G-LUXE a BAE 146 used as an Atmospheric research aircraft for Facilities for Airborne Atmospheric Measurements (FAAM). Arrived at 15.17 and departed at 15.50 according to SWAG.

The Red Arrows will be at Cardiff Airport on Saturday and Sunday the times are as follows.
Saturday arrive 14.46 depart 17.01 arrive 17 41.
Sunday depart 11.43 arrive 12.26 depart 14.26.

It was an ex-China Eastern Airlines A330-200 destined for St Athan.
It has recently been retired from the fleet, re-registered back to its leasing company (BOC Aviation) as M-ABLK and flew HKG-CWL before making the very short hop to St Athan.

The aircraft/crew would have needed to go through customs/border etc and CWL is the nearest airport to be able to do that.
Why to St Athan? I'm afraid I do not know, but from what i've read on here regarding St Athan I can only assume for maintenance/repaint/reconfig before heading to a new carrier, storage, or to be broken up (it's only 12 years old however it's all today with airframe hours and cycles)

That could be the reason, but many aircraft from abroad have flown direct to St Athan before.
