hello friends,

I apologise for my lengthy absence from the forum. On January 4th 2018, I endured my 8th Stroke since 2002. Needless to say I am in some cumulative difficulty.

I can no longer speak coherently although my social workers can understand me. I am severely impaired with walking but can manage a few assisted steps. This said openly, my mind is as sharp as ever and I continue to read Law and try to keep up with BHX news.

However there are significant gaps that need to be filled and I ask members to enlighten me in any way or form.

With your collective permissions, please may I please be readmitted to the group that supports BHX?

Thank you.

Welcome back to the Forum Jenny :)

It's great to have you back - a huge welcome from us all. I'm very sorry to hear of your tribulations of recent months but am so glad that you are able to rejoin us. Ray and the BHX gang will, I am sure, bring you up to date with BHX matters.

A huge welcome back @JENNYJET I noticed your absence and I asked around but nobody knew where you were or if you were ok. It's good to hear you are on the mend now. Your views and opinions were missed so I look forward to seeing you around a bit more now. All the best with your recovery.

Great to see you back Madam JJ :)

I'm very sorry to hear about how unwell you have been and echo others when I send best wishes for your recovery. Also as Kevin as said, there is no need to ask to be readmitted to something that you never left in the first place :)

A brief summary,

Positives, Jet2 adding another 9 or so routes with a couple more based aircraft. TUi have another two short haul routes and extra capacity, long haul wise they dropped Phuket but doubled Goa. Blue Air pulled Cluj but it was quickly replaced by Wizz.

Negatives, the shambles that has been Primera.

New airlines, just Air Arabia Maroc to Agadir.

Also just to add to Ray's quick summary:

We thought we had seen expansion from Air India as they introduced an 8th weekly flight which meant x 2 flights on a saturday but that only lasted for about 3 weeks and we have not seen this 8th weekly flight since. Nobody really knows what is going on. But this is Air India

Turkish airlines are also going back to double daily in S19, they reduced back down to 11/12 weekly about 2 years ago after all the troubles in Turkey but look like they are bouncing back with the opening of the new Istanbul Airport, so that is some good news Jenny.

Bmi Regional came back to BHX after they left 2 years ago only to go again. :bored:

VLM came back to BHX after they left about 2 years ago only to go again :bored:

An airline called Fly One have also started regular flights between BHX - Chisinau in Moldova. Anybody been keeping tracks on this one, are they being more reliable in S18 ?

We have been getting some great airlines and aircraft visiting BHX for aircraft maintenance with MAEL, we get regular airlines who service there 787's come into BHX to provide some excitement for us aircraft enthusiasts. (y)

So all in all Jenny i think it is fair to say the BHX forum has not been a very happy place tbh but hopefully as we approach 2019 we will get some positive news soon.

No longer bookable for winter, looks as if it finishes in September again.

Oh great, so glad you have resurfaced. I am very sorry about your physical condition but you have the energy to keep going and utilize that so clear head of yours. There will be aids to support you and with those, good food and positive vibes from forums like 'ours' then things are positive although of course a good few notches down on what you'd previously enjoyed. Looking at updates given I could add that the infrastructure thread shows at last some structural improvements to facilities. Enjoy! All the best.

Welcome back JennyJet

Thank you everyone for the kind words and the welcome back. Having run through the brief history of BHX 2018 I would guess Mr. Kehoe would be welcome back at his desk!

I think the one item that is troubling to me is the disaster that is Primera and the positive is the continued presence at BHX of QATAR, I did expect them to pull out since Emirates went Double with A380.

No surprise is the absence of transatlantic service excepting TUI to Caribbean whilst Manchester forge ahead in that arena as is expected with a designated gateway airport.

One question though is why, with the loss of Monarch, has Norwegian left us? My thoughts lead to the marketing department at the airport if it was about fee's, Ryanair would leave tonight! Of course, any of you that have read my contributions of the past know my opinions of travel agents in this matter. Is the airport thinking beyond the necessary infrastructure improvements ?

I had to travel to Charing Cross hospital for some treatment because my local was not capable. The usual hassle of Virgin trains, underground and London taxi services the journey sent my blood boiling. Why do travel agents send people to Gatwick and risk the loss of services at their regional airport? I know the economics of flying empty planes means closure of routes.

I believe in Birmingham and LHR, like both but prefer to fly out of BHX because it is user friendly. If I wanted to go to Washington or Chicago do I go south or try Lufthansa via Frankfurt from BHX? Do travel agents think like me or the fat commission from selling a direct nonstop ticket.

There we are, I am back with a rant! Thank you,

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
