The more I read about U.K.-China flights I do wonder how lucrative they actually are - a lot of the new routes that have been launched to LGW/LHR are basically nothing more than glorified charters with quite poor yields - pretty much how the infamous Beijing Capital from BHX no doubt would have been. The new Hainan DUB/EDI flight is supported heavily by tour packages which is backed up by the fact the service is cut during the winter.

At the risk of starting an all out war I’ve even seen it suggested that the MAN service isn’t performing as well as some might claim - again reportedly propped up by tour packages and students - business class doesn’t do as well because of frequency (again, this service was cut during winter). On the other hand CX is doing VERY well from DUB, LGW and MAN so forget Hainan, Beijing etc....Cathay to HKG on an A350 is the one you want.

With more slots available to the UK then no doubt a lot of the 'smaller' Chinese cities we be lobbying no doubt for direct flights and London will be their prefered destination and although they'd want Heathrow they'd settle for Gatwick and if they couldn't get Gatwick they'd no doubt settle for Stansted because it's a London airport.

From airlineroute:

Shanghai Pu Dong – London Gatwick 06FEB20 – 28MAR20 1 daily cancelled

China Eastern from late-June 2023 plans to resume Shanghai Pu Dong – London Gatwick route, on board Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The Skyteam member will operate this route from 26JUN23, 4 times weekly.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
