Forgive me if i have missed something important time-wise here, but am i right in thinking that the corporate decision to cease operations must have been made sometime before the 'leaked' email was sent out around lunchtime.

If that was the case, why on earth did Primera Air allow flights to leave BHX and possibly other airports in the clear knowledge that hundreds of passengers were going to be left stranded and without help in airports abroad.

If that is correct, their actions went far beyond being reprihensible and while not in the eyes of the law criminal, were morally debased.

That is a really good point richard. They would have known their fate quite sometime before but would have also hoped for the reprieve until the very last moment. Whatever time they stopped passengers somewhere would have suffered. I am sure that there were US based passengers who would have been stranded here etc.

Trouble is as they were an overseas airline there is nothing the CAA need to do. Shame.

There needs to be an international passenger rescure scheme for situations like this but in an era of international non-cooperation I cannot see that happening.

Because that is how they operated.They have been doing this for the last 6 months.Why is anyone surprised?

The monarch CEO knew monarch were going down on the Friday before they went under on the 30th September night because he registered his new consultancy business that Friday. They were still selling seats on the Saturday.

Yeah looks like the people in the top, who in the end are probably responsible for the Airline collapsing are the ones who have probably seamlessly transitioned between jobs, typical

That makes at least three brands I know that have been resurrected. Eastern Airlines and VLM are the others I can think of.

If there's no law against resurrecting logos or company names in the UK, then it might technically be possible to bring Monarch back if someone had the money and the willpower.

Given the lack of interest from easyJet, I have a feeling that a resurrected Monarch based exclusively out of BHX (and geared more towards city destinations to avoid competition with Jet2 and TUI) might have a better chance of survival than if it had bases anywhere else!
