From the photo I took of the terminal airside facade, I was concerned the plain white walls were to be glassless areas to be cladded over. MAG today posted new photos on social media showing the white “walls” are actually plastic sheets which must be there to keep the weather out until the glass is fitted.

It may not be shaping up to be much of a looker, but at least you’ll still be able to look out.

Today's offering from "Our Friend"

An excellent selection of shots showing the 1st floor (check-in area) of the T2 extension.

This looks wonderfully airy with plenty of height - see the doorway on the right hand side of photo #1.

I noticed in one of the MAN posts on either Facebook or Twitter that the toilets on the pier look to have water fountains at their entrance. At first glance the entrances look to be much bigger than those in the existing terminals. Don't have the photo at hand, unfortunately.

I just happened to be on that page (photo by MAN social media)

Major work will be starting to reposition taxiway NA. Full detail are in the NOTAM/OAN thread under OAN118/2018.
I also see in other notices at least two OANs regarding the commencement of pier two works. Although remote stands and what will be presumably mainly the new bussing lounge I assume this is all it would be and pier two isn’t getting a jump on pier three?

There again, we know how much remote parking will be needed over the next five or so years as the old T2 format is slowly retired in favour of a finger pier format.

Yet more shots from "Our Friend" - unfortunately none are titled, but they obviously are all taken in T2X

The new bussing lounge is Part 1 of the work on Pier 2, but does not affect the fact that the pier will be the 3rd to be constructed. Pier 3 is still planned to be the 2nd to be built.

Two airbridge now on pier one (both western side, far end). An educated guess says gates 109 and 111 (A9 and A11??) but until we know the new gate designations it’s a bit of a learning curve!

And the T2 petrol station is now fully demolished.

Anybody heard anything on the grapevine about Pier 1 sinking? I have no concrete (no pun intended) evidence other than whispers from various people airside.

Just a quick comment from a BHX tpye but firstly an aviation fiend I regularly visit this thread and find it fascinating to followed how things are coming together great work by Scottie Dog and his friend plus others providing detailed info on an airport with a plan.

Appreciated.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
