Wizz to open a base at Cardiff Airport with 9 routes!
"It is to launch nine new routes to resorts such as Alicante, Faro and Tenerife as well as seasonal routes during the summer to Corfu and Palma de Mallorca as well as Lanzarote and Sharm El Sheikh during the winter."

With Wizz it's unknown as in a recent article their CEO had said that some of their recent expansion has been pre planned and others opportunistic due to the pandemic. The former CFO of Wizz is Welsh so maybe he helped things. It'll be interesting to see what the full route network will be.

Interestingly the press conference only mentions 7 routes not 9 so will be curious to see what the other 2 are.

Yes though like Jet2 at Bristol Wizz are essentially filling the lost Thomas Cook capacity so hopefully will compliment the other airlines rather than push them out.

Good news at last and one that’s been in the works since DSA got WizzAir in to do something very similar.

No details regarding schedule, start dates etc but looks to be a single based aircraft year-round. A welcome boost for the airport, and some lively competition for EZY, FR and Jet2 over the bridge.

Thats amazing news! I had always been positive that something would come from either Wizz or Ryanair.
I'm glad to see it is Wizz because they can really focus on CWL, whereas FR would always have had BRS in mind.
With Wizz low fares, CWL can now really compete with BRS.

Surprised Malta and Barcelona isn't on the list, I wonder FR will be returning still. Also wonder if they will squeeze in a daily EDI or DUB.

I am surprised to see SSH over other routes given that it is struggled to make a return for TUI recently, although it isn't offered by EZY from BRS so could work. With only 9 routes some will be more that 1x weekly.

Based on the 230 seat A321 operating, it should work out at 351,440 seats available from March 2020 - March 2021 with a total of 764 return flights.

Interested to see what they do with the Bristol Katowice flight if it will remain there or move to Cardiff.
I don't see that happening. Wizz is now essentially 2 airlines in the UK. Wizz Hungary and Wizz UK which will most likely concentrate on the holiday routes rather than Eastern Europe.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
