BBC Look North trailer suggests objection to airport will be one of the main stories tonight. I hope the airport have a plan to counter all this 'anti publicity by putting their arguments across. Will be worth seeing if the BBC use any of the info in the support groups press releases.

Well like any other well balanced for and against debate you’d expect so but this is the BBC we’re talking about.

It’s sabre rattling at it’s best but let’s hope the people in the decision process have some balls and ignore these counter arguments after local people were 75% in favour of the new development.

The BBC policy is that any news story it relates to climate change does not require opposing views. That is the official BBC protocol. So regardless of how the new terminal will benefit the region, and regardless of how neighbouring airports have been able to expand, because GALBA is focusing on climate change they are unlikely to feature the pro airport argument.

FFS. Started off with the positives. 60 flights a day...errr..we already have a damn sight more than that (notwithstanding Covid). Where does these people get their info from??

Whilst my local councillor is not on the board Thursday, 2 of the group (I presume they mean Conservatives) will be and in favour of the terminal.

Though the councillor did address that LBA need to do something about surface access strategy (I reminded that the roads were set back by the council) and about the aircraft using LBIA. They are becoming more environmentally friendly - NEO and MAX are coming soon. NG's are more fuel efficient and better for the environment then sadly, 757-200 and 737-300, used.

As I said the airport should be dispelling this mis information publicly.
Totally agree. A golden opportunity for the new CEO to introduce himself in impressive fashion but so far, I have seen nor read anything from him since he started.

It does seem odd that the airport seem very reluctant to go on TV to clarify facts and actually show up the opposition for the lies they tell. If it's rejected in the end, I can't help thinking that they could, and should have done more.

I just hope they have their reasons and they are entirely positive.

according to the news report apparently LBA is not 24hr flying atm and we just had the views from what appeared to be a scratty student, whatever next !
But the news report was quite balanced which was a change.
Balanced but featured some misinformation that wasn't challenged, as you say,

"they're trying to bring in 24 hour flying",

SERIOUSLY ? where has this man been since the 90s when 24 hour flying was introduced? Obviously we should see this as a positive as it means he has never heard aircraft using the airport during the night.

Almost 27 years since we got 24 hours and we had it prior to 1984 too, but didn't have a runway long enough for anyone to want to fly at night ie: a based aircraft.
What annoys me is that these statements are made, but never corrected. A good reporter would know it's a 24 hour airport and correct them there and then, thereby showing them for what they are.
I shall however refrain from saying what I think they are!

I am sure the heirachy have a plan. They’d sooner keep things professional rather than an open scrap with the opposition.

I think the hoops they had to jump through to meet the councils approval on the drawings and numerous changes means lots will have gone on behind the scenes.

Interestingly, when the next national election is been fought, I’d love to see how labour will get around the country canvassing votes. Will it all be zoom calls!! Their hypocrisy is amazing.

The airport owners and senior management might be taking the view that the people they have to convince are the Leeds City Council planning councillors not a self-appointed single issue organisation like GALBA and its fellow travellers.

The airport's case is compelling so make it to the people who matter at the appropriate time, ie on Thursday of this week.

UPDATE: By the way we've been asked by a local media outlet if anyone from LBA Support Group would be able to do a Zoom meeting/Interview. I myself cannot do it as I'm working lates all this week, meanwhile @White Heather & @Aviador are both tied up with other things.

Can anyone step up and represent us? If so please get in contact with us ASAP

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
