@White Heather excellent!... if thats the case can it still be called in as certain groups are demanding? sorry for all the questions I'm not clued up on the process.
Well yes, but I believe there are conditions governing the circumstances in which an approved planning application should be called in, and I don't believe that this scheme meets those conditions. It certainly shouldn't be called in because of a noisy anti airport group. If that were the case then every airport related plan would end up as a public inquiry. But we can't afford to sit back, do nothing and assume it will all be ok. Hence the request that we all write to the Minister.

How long can we expect it to be with the secretary of state and once he signs it off are the airport free to start construction?

He should sign it off within a month under Green Belt rules, assuming he is approving it. If it takes longer, then perhaps it's time to worry!
They can't start until everything is sorted with the council and it's also a fairly long period to go out to tender for a project of this size. I can't see anything starting before winter - and that might still be preliminary works.

Could a decision be delayed if taking more than a few weeks? Noted that the report on the future of our railways will not be ready in March, therefore will be further delayed until after the local/Mayor elections on 06/05/2021. Appears to be a period when Government's hibernate pre-election time.

Had a thought should the LBA Supporters Group send their e.mails to the Labour party leader, with a note to state that Alex Sobel M.P. is opposing the airport plans by writing to the Minister of State 'to call the plan in'. He is pushing his own climate agenda with no regard for the Leeds North voter's. The elector's in general want a new zero carbon terminal, go ahead airport for the region and with it increased jobs ( many for young people ). May stare it up a little for Sobel with an attack on his own flank.

Good point but I'm not sure how effective it would be. He represents a heavily populated student area. Remember Greg Mulholland was MP for years in that constituency and the only thing that ousted him was the Lib Dem /Conservative alliance on student loans.

I've written to Jenrick ...the decision maker. This is the best support we can give. Any other opposition is useful but in an area where other Labour MP's ( 5 of whom are in Labour's Shadow Cabinet/Ministers) have also opposed the plans, I think it would be background noise.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
