Great news all round, fingers crossed for some connections/code shares... ! Hope LBA shout about this on social media ASAP and get the message out there / to agents. Also fantastic to see 4 members already booking flybe flights!! Anyone else? I am looking into a LHR day trip

If they're BFS based crews do they just overnight at local hotels? Also where does the night stopper go on a Saturday, since its not doing a Newquay.

Yes the crew will most likely be overnighting in a local hotel. Plus they will most likely crew swap when an aircraft returns to Belfast.

The weekday night stopping aircraft/crew leaves Leeds Saturday operating the 11:30 BE734 departure to Belfast
It then returns to Leeds Sunday lunchtime at 13:00 operating the inbound BE735 from Belfast.

Thanks. I wonder if they had known Eastern were pulling off Newquay earlier they might have planned to serve that airport.

LBA getting it out on there social media now

Well the coverage on Look North tonight was definitely underwhelming.

It's a Birmingham-based aircraft and crew operating most of the LHR programme and overnighting in LBA. Runs LBA-LHR-LBA-BHD-BHX-BHD-LBA-LHR-LBA. Only the third LBA-LHR (when it starts) is BHD-based aircraft and crew. Some significant issues recruiting enough pilots and cabin crew for BHD base.

Good news for local hotels around here. I wonder who they'll use. I would like to think Weetwood Hall - a lovely hotel quite near the airport but far enough away (by road 10-15 minutes). The others en-route are crap to say the least. Premier Inn at the end of the main road would also be a good bet given its proximity.

It's good news for everyone here in the local area also. Hopefully BA will codeshare on this. And if so we can get significant load factors that warrant that additional 3rd rotation. I feel that if we had the 3rd/4th runway at London Heathrow this is what we would be getting. 4/5 daily on a Dash Q400. That would also allow other connections otherwise not viable at high frequency on a A319/20 or 737-800 e.g. INV, NQY, GCI and would probably supplement some of the higher frequency domestics to NCL, MAN, BFS/BHD.

I wish Flybe all the success. A great outfit ruined by greedy corporate ****ers and a government who just sunk a multi billion pound infrastructure network worth a lot to the UK economy whilst failing to cancel the waste of space that is HS2.

Before anyone jumps down my neck - I know that BA could quite easily make 3/4 daily on a A320 work but tbh I'll take a Dash Q400 with high frequencies.

Anyone know how bookings are going, especially on LHR? I would have thought BHD will basically sell itself so if LHR supports good numbers, BE may just be thinking “ey up, this LBA place has some potential”. Nothing we all don’t know already of course
I m certain that LBA management will have pointed out the opportunities at LBA in terms of routes not served or under-served, particularly given Flybe's apparent lack of interest in MAN. It would be a very sensible choice as a Northern base, with Southampton in the South.
However, as stated by said management, the LBA terminal struggles at peak times, and a based carrier brings more passengers at those peak times, so we may need to wait for a base of any new airline until the extension is constructed and in use and areas of the existing terminal subsequently improved to cope - notably baggage screening and Check in hall A.
That's a pity if it's the case, but opening a new base only to have passengers complaining about the problems at the airport is probably not what Flybe management have in mind.
Perhaps they might sign a deal to base at LBA once the works are done. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Whilst I applaud FlyBe's decision to fly the route to LHR I can't help thinking it will be short lived unless they get interline agreements/code shares with one of the big alliances. The flights needs to be available to connecting passengers and most importantly of all they need to be bookable on other airlines' systems. I would say One-world or Star Alliance would be the ones they need to court.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
