We're getting ahead of our selves here chaps (and Chapeses), there is no confirmation yet. It is nice to dream, but remember it is a dream. I hope that we will not be disappointed next Tues.

Ok, I stand corrected on all counts. I’ll reserve comment until there is any confirmation. There was me thinking a forum was an open debate where people with a shared interest can share their views and it sparked conversation?
Nothing to correct. It's speculation based on 'reliable sources' so very much up for open discussion.

I wonder how many a/c will be needed for the initial schedules, including back up? Haven’t they currently only got 2. If it stayed that way then that’s 1 in BHX and 1 in BHD

BHD

They have 3x Dash 8-Q400's so far, G-JECP, G-JECX & G-JECY. With another 9+ more due for delivery on lease from "Nordic Aviation Capital"

I know this is forward thinking and we will find out more tomorrow but does anybody else think these 2 routes could set LBA up to be a good contender for a third base? LBA LHR is a unique destination for us / FlyBe, would of thought EDI/ABZ would be more in-line (maybe they are also) with Eastern quickly pulling out, NQY a strong market and SOU with the right pricing structure they could start a nice little network.

I know Eastern are a law unto themselves but I am rather hoping there is no smoke without fire! Ultimately the German market (DUS wasn’t a bad performer but it was a German crew which can’t have been cheap!) if (and its a big if) they can get an LH or EW code share which could be some way into the future then this could be a possible market

Can't see an aircraft coming from BHX to do a LHR route. If it is going to happen it will have to be from BHD. Anyway, what do I know about operating an airline.

Regarding Newquay, I wondered if we could have an aircraft heading down there from Belfast or Birmingham, then up to LBA, back to Newquay and then returning to base. (W pattern).
I guess something similar could happen at Southampton although I suspect us getting a Southampton route would be dependent upon a SOU (or LBA) base. Maybe one for the future.

Of course, as we are talking LBA I am prepared to find tomorrow that we get nothing at all! However, after many years at LBA, it's clear that something has spooked Eastern. If they think they will get more pax from HUY to NQY than they do from LBA, they are deluded. It feels like they have done this in response to some information such as a new carrier. I know LBA had been asking for an ATR on the route and were not overly happy about just a Jetstream considering we used to fill Dash 8 and E190s only 3 or 4 years ago.

A 3rd flybe base at LBA would be perfect for the airline, we have the population and ideal customer base for flybe and no competition so a market to themselves, the Birmingham base to the south, their northern ireland base and LBA in the North. MAN has too many carriers on flybe routes so over the pennines here at LBA in my opinion would be great, with some media advertising esp regional news programmes (if the bbc can be bothered) im sure it will be a success. Anyway i sit here patiently remembering we are talking about LBA here!!

Just looking at Flybe's new website and the where we fly section, it mentions;
Belfast City to LBA up to 3 times daily from April 28th
and
LBA to Heathrow again up to 3 times daily from April 28th
airports served look like BHX, BHD, EDI, GLA, MAN, EMA, NCL, LHR, SOU, AMS, Avignon and Brest from July.
Flights / airports served look like being phased in between early April and late August, presumably as aircraft become available

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
