A neighbours relative worked outbound security. Furloughed, then finally went back.In that latest MEN article, Karen Smart has said that new staff are being recruited, but the employee quoted states employees are also leaving or considering doing so. I guess it's a case of what the rate of the net gain (hopefully) for security personnel is that will help to determine passengers experience over the coming weeks.
Well I guess that’s comforting for MAN users (even if true)
don’t worry I’m aware the bigger picture is an issue for you so my post wasn’t really aimed at you. But carry on…..
A queue in itself isn't sufficient for the CAA/DFT to issue a Deficiency Notice, but the lack of control in what is meant to be a secure area will be.Surely action by the CAA can't be far away...
Having had the displeasure of experiencing similar inefficiencies working at another airport, I can tell you with certainty that having airport management in situ in these conditions doesn't help the situation, it makes it very much worse. My personal experience is unrepeatable on a public forum. Working in conditions that are more akin to a bar brawl will see staff leaving in their droves.I have great sympathy with the staff that are there. They must be working under intolerable pressure and copping abuse from some punters into the bargain for matters that are beyond their control on the 'factory floor'.
I'd like to see senior management have the guts to go onto the front line and shoulder the intense disquiet of passengers. It's their responsibility even if staffing levels across the industry are currently inadequate. That's why they receive hefty pay packets. Earn them!
