The seat map for my flight LHR-LBA next Saturday has just changed. Now showing a 68 seat aircraft row 1-17. Any ideas?
Are you sure that this image is showing the whole picture? Looking at the image that you posted, the notes on the right hand side seem to indicate that rows 15-20 cost an extra £3. However, the image only shows rows from 1 - 17 (was there a scroll bar?).

I’ve just checked again and Saturday is definitely showing a 68 seater…with a 1C&D showing. The dash doesn’t have 1C&D. ATR72’s are usually 68 seats aren’t they?

Am I right in thinking propellor jobs are cheaper at LHR and the 175 is a costly affair despite it likely to find favour with the business community?
I would have to google it to be sure but landing fees are normally based on weight. However turboprops cant be very popular with ATC at LHR so they may even be more expensive.

Yet the seat notes for both are identical and the plan with only 17 rows appears to refer to seat row 20 in the notes? It doesn’t add up.

The northbounds seem to sell at a premium even after allowing for the base price being higher. I wonder if LBA is seen as attractive to arrive at but not to depart from after all the bashing? LNER if on a flex ticket is a small fortune on a peak train so it will be broadly comparable. They have to post for the 175 also!

The premium you have to pay for flying to and from Leeds is outrageous, full stop. But I was looking for some flights to Belfast and, needless to say, I won't be travelling with FlyBe considering their high fares and diabolical recent performance.

That said, my friend is currently awaiting departure to Belfast on this evening's Flybe and the pilot has apparently informed the passengers that they are being delayed because there is only one operational tug and they are third in the queue. The airport has to do its job properly too and I'd say this is a black mark against them.

But surely that’s the problem of swissport not the airport as swissport do all the ground handling of flights at Leeds except Jet2.

I think the airport shoulders overall responsibility for the situation. It is an operational issue at LBA. There should be service level agreements and the airport should robustly manage them. To be perfectly honest though, a little bit of common sense wouldn't go amiss. The two flights ahead of the Flybe are two delayed Ryanair flights. That's just bad local management, whichever way you look at it. And none of it does anything to enhance Flybe's reputation at a moment when, frankly, it is in the gutter. Everyone needs to play their part: Flybe; Swissport; LBA. It's not good enough.

Tell them your ideas on how to do better 🙂 as swissport do the ground handling. The problems are that they don’t have the adequate staff they need for the flights at present and whilst I appreciate that it’s not a good experience for the customer but the airport can’t take the blame for that when it’s not them that do the ground handling it’s swissport.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
