Landed back in to LBA last night and got an excellent view of the lights of the city on approach and a cheeky loop as a bonus. Arrival was via the bus to arrivals, which whilst not great, was pretty quick and painless. At arrivals the escalator is still not working. No queue to immigration and pretty much all desks staffed, so straight to baggage reclaim. The corridor and baggage hall look horrendous(I know they will change as part of the redevelopment before anyone pounces on the comment) but they are grim. The baggage belt is proper loud and someone must have pressed the emergency stop, as it suddenly went off. Baggage was off in less than 5 minutes. So plane door to sentinel in 25 minutes which is spot on, it’s just the appearance of facilities that makes it feel third world, not the feel of a modern international city. Incidentally, Hull KR were in the arrivals, I think they had been training in Tenerife - some were proper units!
The least they can do to distract us from the appearance is to get us in and out of arrivals ASAP.

Jet2 handling agents definitely do, I’ve not spent longer than 20 mins in the LBA baggage hall this year, 2 of those flights being peak summer season too.

The rest of my flights this year have been out of MAN as they aren’t offered direct from LBA. LIS and JFK respectively. So I can’t really comment on Swissports behaviour out of LBA.

I dont know how to post a link from Facebook but last night MAN issued a statement slating Swissport and basically explaining that despite promises to the contrary they have insufficient staff in place to cover the Christmas period. Travellers have been told to expect delays. I mention this here in case there could be a similar, ad yet unannounced problem at Leeds.

Is it not time that, if told which thread something is in, then members should cut their shackles and venture out into the unknown parts of the great forum that is F4A:)
Well I venture into other areas, particularly DSA and MME but not every day so something like the MAN Swissport announcement I would not be aware of.

Here, Here Scottie Dog. We should be encouraging all members to read every thread then they will be better informed of what is happening, instead of being insular to one particular airport.

Ideally, but we need to be realistic. There are too many threads to keep current on.
I read all threads except some of the ones at the "bottom" of the forum. It usually takes 30 mins, less on quiet days, more on busier days but never more than 60 mins.
I know being "permanently on holiday" gives me plenty of opportunity, I would have thought everybody can find that amount of time.

Having posted the above, I do not use Social Media where a lot of people I know, (not all young ones) are checking it every 5 mins. I suppose it's a question of priorities.

Read the other threads? As every true Yorkshireman and woman knows nothing exists outside of Yorkshire. As Captain Boycott of Yorkshire Airlines famously said “"Yorkshire Airlines - departing Leeds International Airstrip and touching down 20 minutes later at Leeds International Airstrip because if it's outside Yorkshire it's not worth bloody visiting."

I have just deleted a couple of posts not directly related to the Leeds forum. Everyone has been warned enough times and the moderators have enough to do without constantly moving posts because certain members can't be arsed to look beyond the end of their nose.

If you want to post about other airports you must go to the relevant airport forum. If you want to discuss an airline more in depth, you must go to the airline forums.

The Moderators have made this abundantly clear more than enough times now. The local forums are for local discussions only. The only exception is where there is a direct connection.

As mentioned in another thread on Friday we flew back from Belfast with Easyjet on Friday. Belfast Airport far better experience than Leeds. Even the Easyjet staff! Left early landed early. 40 minute flight. Took longer to get off the plane and through to exit.
Not a good experience!

There are no easyJet staff at Leeds. They're Swissport staff in disguise!

The length of your flight might be only 40 minutes but if there's are a few arrivals, you can expect to take anywhere up to an hour to get out of the terminal, and it can take a lot longer than that at bigger, busier airports such as MAN

At least you know the situation at LBA will improve when the extension is a built and open . At present they have to hold passengers back, in the aircraft sometimes, , to maintain control of numbers in the terminal, which also delays boarding of the outbound flight. Not good all round, but better than queuing out if the door or having far too many in the baggage re-claim area.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
