That was quite a sight!. It arrived a bit late as I recall. Beginning to get dark and misty. That was quite a week with all the USAF military movements and the helicopters .Has to be Air Force One

Birmingham Airport - Picture Thread
I've been searching through a few old storage boxes and came across some old photographs. Unfortunately, I didn't find the negatives, so the following are from scans of prints. The quality therefore isn't as good as I would like, but still hope you enjoy the shots. I'll start with a few visitors...forums4airports.com
I think the smoke is still hanging around. Loved those times. Aircraft let you know of their presence. Oh how I miss the long drawn out drone of the DC3 and the dirty roar of a BAC1-11.I've been reading the recent posts with interest especially regarding the Air Algeria Caravell which operated late evening, also Air France operated the service the year before or after with a weekly flight.if I remember correctly they were I/T flights to Nice. Wouldn't be surprised if they were flights for M.A.T.O. owned by "Deadly Doug"
Favourite aircraft definitely the Spantax Coronado watching it charge down the runway and disappearing in a cloud of smoke and noise over Brum.I always waited to see what disappeared last the aircraft, the noise., or the smoke.
The VC10 an honourable second fo me.

Any one remember the little BA timetable books available from the old Elmdon terminal?
Including a proper viewing area with benches as opposed to a bus stop that we have now in car park 5.Here’s an aerial view that I haven’t seen before. The A310 in the lower left corner is from short lived Spanish charter airline Oasis (1986-95).
