I was just wondering with the sheer amount of check in desks tui and jet 2 use will there actually be enough check in desks available? It looks pretty busy with just the airlines from t2 without taking into account the airlines from t1 and some from t3. When I last went through t2 jet2 and tui took up most of the old area, so just curious where the extra space is coming from. Especially with the plans to attract new airlines over the coming years they'll surely need more room.

I think the first wave of leisure departures (->07:00) should be fine as vast majority will be just Jet2/TUI/easyJet with a sprinkling of LH/KL/AF flights to European hubs etc.

I tried to look myself but couldn't find anything, but was just curious does anyone have any figures on the new t2, for example maximum amount of passengers through it, what the airports aim for annual passengers would be and movements per hour. I've seen different figures on different websites and have a feeling some may be out of date. Last I saw was 25 million through one terminal but then a total capacity of 40 million.

Hello everyone, long time lurker now first time poster here… interesting to see the development at Terminal 2 and how the plans have changed as time has gone on. It certainly now has a rather fragmented appearance with the old and new. I was just wondering does anyone know if the facade of the original T2 will be re-clad to match the new parts airside? Or simply left in case of another pier or two being added when T1 eventually gets demolished?

Staffsflyer, I agree the airside new versus old is jarring and not sure on the glass colour. It really does need matching in to finish the job when all piers are completed. If not in my opinion it sets a poor first impression on arrival. That said, it is certainly a significant upgrade to facilities.

HX3, yes agreed there. Passed through in July and thought everything that was new was really good. Your point about the appearance externally to inbound visitors is really what I was getting at I suppose. Granted many will pay no attention, but I think overall the airport should be making every effort to at least tie the project together however mismatched the buildings may be, to create something that still looks modern and well kept.

Welcome!

Strangely, as part of the planning application the airport stated their intention to have the new parts look different to the legacy parts. It’s looking more like T1 already!

I passed through t2 and used the pier for the first time this week. Departures looks good, and once mirrored in the old part of T2, I think it will look pretty impressive.
Security was good and efficient and looks ok too. The shopping areas were alright, plenty of choice and ample seating, and the hexagon lighting is effective, but a glass roof as initially planned would have been better.
The wooden seating is comfotable but the pleather sofas have already started to wear.
The walkway to the new pier is very bland IMO and the flooring looks a bit cheap, the windows are fine, but I do think if they had gone floor to ceiling the walkway wouldn’t look so narrow and would also look better externally.
The pier itself looks alright, the flooring again detracts from the overall look. It may sound strange to say, but it lacks different textures, everything is a bit flat, again I think it is the flooring.
On arrival we used the end gate on arrival, so it is a bit of a treck but there are signs telling you the distance to immigration. Immigration itself was excellent, no queues, the e gates worked and the area looks good.
Baggage collection we were on 12 so the final one in the new area. Baggage reclaim looks ok, maybe lacks some natural light, otherwise good.

Overall, if I was general public and not on an aviation forum, then I think I would be reasonably happy with the T2 experience.

Well I've just attended the Manchester Airport Consultative Committee meeting and, when directly asked, the airport representative who was giving the regular MANTP update said that she was unaware of any delays.

Hopefully this report will just be a rumour.

I've heard from a few people now and also read from a MAG released report that part of the transformation programme is to increase movements to as high as 76 movements per hour and to also extend the taxiway to 05r allowing for full dual runway operations. Is this still the case and has anyone got any other information on it. This report was the 2016 MAN Land use Plan which can be found in the Sustainable Development report. If this has changed are there any updated reports to view?

I attended a 2019 TP meeting where any R2 full length taxiway was discounted. The annual benefit vs cost didn’t add up.

It doesn’t help either the current MD is keen to show anyone who’ll listen how he ran Gatwick very well on one runway. Apparently.

Fair enough, it does work 90 percent of the time but as soon as 23r is out of use its buggered. Having to backtrack doesn't work

To me it just seems a waste, they battled to get a second runway, and have ended up with one they can't fully use, with no plans of making it fully usable.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
