Discussions relating to Liverpool Airport
I'm sure Ryanair won't allow aircraft to sit idle. We will have to wait and see. Airport management mentioned the route last Tuesday, and expect the official announcement to be January, unless something has altered. Newquay was popular in the past , particularly when Easyjet operated it.

Ryanair seem to have around a 10 % increase this summer over 2023. Thirty two routes will operate. Big increases on Alicante, Malaga and Tenerife. Lanzarote, is operating year round, not a winter seasonal route.

@Silvercity yes I agree and my comment wasn't probably best worded. I feel Jet2's entry into LPL has caused FRv to react agree they are quite capable of both holding their own

What will be interesting is if Jet2 take some of the routes abandoned by FR and Easyjet. There are a number of longstanding very popular routes, that were basically moved to Manchester. I am thinking of the likes of Lisbon , Berlin, Pisa , Venice.

I'd expect that if they did they'd be during certain times of the year, ie Berlin during the winter for Xmas market holidays.

They have already announced Prague and another destination that escapes me.right now, over the Christmas period. Its good, but long term connections to Prague / Berlin etc is what is required really.

I don't see Jet2 as being an option to provide long term connections to places like Prague and Berlin.

They could to some Italian destinations, like Venice for example.
Italy probably is a better option for them but i'd have thought they'd start with southern Italy and say Verona for mountains and lakes.

Maybe, the airport would have a wealth of passenger usage data on ex FR / Easyjet routes, I'm sure it's be forwarded to Jet2 for consideration.

I've no doubt they have but Jet2 is a bit different from those airlines in being a holiday company first and foremost.

RYR at LPL - Peak summer 2024
Looks like the Ryanair base at LPL will be 5x aircraft strong this summer, made up of 1x 7M8 and 4x 738s.
Just looking at a Monday in August and there's still a large gap on 1x B738 between 12pm and 7pm, suggesting another route or an increase on another may still be on the cards.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
