Discussions relating to Liverpool Airport
I believe this was a Jet2 first. It was first done at LBA probably about a decade ago, TUI copied and I think easyJet have followed suit. It can be handy as it means you can offload your bags the night before making it far less stressful for those who hate the airport experience. The downside is you do have to make an additional journey to the airport which will come at a cost to you if you need to park up while you check-in your bags. Those who I know who have used it swear by it and say the whole airport process is much easier. It means you can just go straight through security at the airport and you can forget about your belongings until you arrive on your holiday.

It sounds a good idea, especially I can imagine for a family with lots of luggage, just to get that out of the way, making it much easier on the day of travel.

Was it not already confirmed, I thought it was ages ago when they announced Malta, Reus and Málaga.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are promising ‘exciting plans’ to mark the start of operations out of Liverpool John Lennon Airport with three months to go until the first flights.

The first flight to depart the airport will be to Tenerife on March 28, 2024.

The airline and tour operator have put 20 sun destinations on sale out of Liverpool for summer 2024, including six that are exclusive to Jet2. Flights out of the airport were first announced in May this year.

The company said it would soon reveal plans for its first day of operations out of the airport.

It has had a “fantastic response” so far from independent travel agents and customers since the launch of its 11th airport base and has already announced an even bigger programme for summer 2025, with plans for additional aircraft to support the growth.

Chief executive Steve Heapy said: “Since the day we announced our launch from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, we have experienced huge demand from customers and independent travel agents wanting to enjoy our award-winning flights and Atol protected package holidays.

“The key ingredient behind our success is our commitment to delivering VIP customer service and it is clear that the word has spread to Liverpool and the surrounding region, because the reaction we have had since launch has been nothing short of phenomenal.

“Bookings have remained consistently strong since launch, and the feedback we have received has left us in no doubt that making this move was the right one. With just three months until our first flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, we are incredibly excited about opening this latest chapter in our continued growth story and we cannot wait to welcome customers and get started.”

In the first summer of operations, Jet2 will offer up to 54 weekly flights out of Liverpool, including 12 to both the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands. It has a programme of 565,000 seats on sale.

A fleet of four aircraft will fly customers to a range of destinations in mainland Spain, the Canaries, Balearics, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Portugal, Madeira and Cyprus.

The programme includes six exclusive summer routes to Gran Canaria, Menorca, Rhodes, Zante, Madeira, and Bourgas in Bulgaria.

The company will have 250 staff, including a team of uniformed customer helpers, in place to help customers travelling through the airport.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
