GDFT diverted to MAN so once again all the Jet2s get in except two 733s that don't. And of course we now have the Aer Lingus overhead as we did this morning unable to make an approach with the RVR 325m.Anyone know why GDFT is circling but others making approach?
Look like Eastern did a missed approach also
The 733s regularly land on auto land Cat 3. Clearly there's some reason why these didn't..Looking from FR24 the Easten did not descend lower the 3500 feet approx. flew straight over head and headed north east i guess the channex 733 are not able to carry out cat 3a
His Ops wont want to divert as it means picking up the outbound pax on a special flight tomorrow (as happened last week)Just noticed the sun express now holding high at 1300ft to the west I guess he keeping his options open if things improve hopefully
Anyone have access to the RT? What is the current RVR?
The RVR seems to have been above CAT3a limits - did the 733s have an issue with on board equipment or crew qualification - although if they are planned to return that's a puzzle? Similarly the SXS 738. Is it just me or do the Dublin crews have more success landing than Belfast?? This morning the conditions we not dissimilar when BHD diverted and Dublin landed very shortly thereafter. I've noticed this before wonder if again it's down to crew qualification?According to FR24, 250m.
The Jet2 737 800 from TFS has just landed. Right behind it, so did the Wizz A321, just about the same time our Sun Express was touching down - at MAN!
Our Aer Lingus from DUB stuck it out too and landed, albeit an hour late, whilst as happened this morning, the Belfast didn't wait long and headed off to LPL. KLMs E190 also landed.
FR24 shows both diverted 733s due to position back shortly but perhaps they'll wait given visibility isn't much better than when they diverted.
Potentially, the Belfast based aircraft which are UK registered have different RVR limits for making an approach than the Dublin based aircraft which are in the Irish register? The RVR seems to have been above CAT3a limits - did the 733s have an issue with on board equipment or crew qualification - although if they are planned to return that's a puzzle? Tonights EI flights arrived at LBA at approx the same time. The BHD landed at 20:34 and the DUB is still holding. A reversal of what we saw earlier today.Potentially, the Belfast based aircraft which are UK registered have different RVR limits for making an approach than the Dublin based aircraft which are in the Irish register?
I've noticed before that the Buzz aircraft, registered in Poland, seem to divert more readily than the Irish registered aircraft of Ryanair. Perhaps too today's Sun Express also has higher limits given it landed at MAN at the same time as a Jet2 (same aircraft type) and a larger Wizz A321 were auto landing at LBA, without making an approach.
The two Jet2 733s diverting though when their 738s were landing is more of a mystery, as I'm certain these aircraft have landed Cat3a many times before
