Final Report into the PIA A320 crash in 2020 makes grim reading and the attatched video gives a good explanation of what went wrong.Hardly surprising they were banned in Europe after it and a lot of fake pilot licences were found.Not an Airline I would ever want to fly with! Regards,Simon.
 
And another incident very similar to what happened at LBA last summer ...

The Boeing 737 Max 8, carrying 160 passengers and six crew, was landing at George Bush intercontinental airport on Friday morning when it “left the pavement and entered the grass” while exiting the runway for the gate, airport officials said in an interview.

 
I think the problem here, is that the press will currently pounce on any incident involving a Boeing aircraft, especially if it's a 737-MAX series. The article doesn't state what the weather conditions were, or if the aircraft was trying to vacate the runway quickly, due to close landing traffic. These incidents do happen. More alarming, is the report of jammed controls, which needs to be investigated and checks carried out on other aircraft, if found to be a maintenance/manufacturing issue.

An unfortunate incident, that will cause delays to passengers departures and aircraft out of service for BA and Virgin. Why oh why, do journalists list any part of the airport that is tarmac as 'the runway'. This incident clearly happened on the apron, nowhere near the runway.
 
One dead and three injured in Lithuania cargo jet crash

At least one person has died and three others have been injured after a cargo plane crashed near Vilnius airport in Lithuania in the early hours of Monday.

The Boeing 737, operated for DHL by the Spanish cargo airline Swiftair, crashed near a house as it was on its final approach for landing, local authorities said.
 
Indeed very sad, and according to some, no accident, the tail section being scattered with shrapnel holes, which are clearly visible in some videos of the wreckage.. There's even a video taken on board whilst in flight showing holes elsewhere around the flaps. The ground videos, show the aircraft diving then climbing several times, a good indicator of the crew struggling to keep control.
 
From the video the crew did their best to level out just before they hit the ground which probably saved the lives of some of those in the rear section. Unfortunately the front part of the aircraft burst into flames giving little chance of survival. The evidence is mounting that it was shot down. What a tragic, needless loss of life.
 
Tragic week or what. The Jeju Air that sadly crashed this morning was a previously regular Ryanair visitor to LBA as EI-EFR.

Ryanair only kept it for about 7 years then put it into storage before selling it. Maybe they weren't short of aircraft at that time.

Grim footage of the incident, bit on edge now as flying later this week! once again seems to be the tail end of the aircraft thats survived the most.

It's the same aircraft that diverted to Seoul the day before after squawking 7700 and declaring an emergency although the reasons for that are not known.

Suggestions of a bird strike with this crash, but photos showing the aircraft undercarriage collapsed and it on its belly. The two dont seem related somehow? Could a bird strike cause a catastrophic undercarriage collapse? Or did the bird strike cause an issue resulting in a heavy landing which caused the collapse? We will have to wait to find out.

Whatever, another tragic loss of life and after what seemed a good year in terms of aviation safety, the second over the Christmas period. There always seems to be something at Christmas! (Not necessarily aviation related).
 
From the video I thought it looked like the landing gear hadn't deployed at all (as opposed to collapsed). I think the bird strike stuff seems to be just media speculation but I guess a strike could have damaged hydraulic systems, preventing the gear from coming down. It's a dreadful accident and thankfully a rare occurrence these days. It also seems from reports I've read that it landed downwind after a mayday call.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
