That's exactly what I mean by prioritising expenditure. Those changes will increase costs, but will make a difference to the customer experience which in turn will encourage them to use LBA again. Spending more money making the outside look flashy with acres of glass won't do any good if the customer experience isn't great. Customers don't remember the building exterior when booking flights, but they do remember the interior, and the overall experience inside the terminal whether departing or arriving. When these plans were originally released I raised my own concerns. Apart from the not so pleasing look of the exterior of the building, I flagged some major concerns with the internal designs. These concerns were addressed when the internal plans were updated. Changes included moving the immigration point to the east side to ensure a continuous passenger flow which avoids the need for passengers to go back on themselves. The updated plans also made a provision for more arrivals carousels. The original plans only featured 3 carousels which is the same as what we have now so it was never going to be enough even if they are larger.
I know what you mean, but I wouldn't have said no to the flashy new terminal with it's glass front. That's exactly what I mean by prioritising expenditure. Airside views look OK with the windows but all the landside views look horrible. It looks more like an Amazon/Next warehouse than an airport terminal. Prince (then) Charles once described some modern buildings as carbuncles. This is definitely in carbuncle territory! It's alright saying it's what it does that's important or that most users won't notice the outside. Doesn't matter, you can't miss that eyesore whether using it or just passing by. Could have done so much better LBA.
You mean that terminal that was suppose to be at the eastern end of the apron that never happened due to incompetent leadership of our so called leaders!I know what you mean, but I wouldn't have said no to the flashy new terminal with it's glass front.![]()
Let's face it. Many MPs, and Councillors, go into their 'jobs' so they can impose their will and beliefs on the rest of us, not to represent the views of the majority of the people they are there to serve. And if in doubt, they just bow down to they who shout loudest ir do them the biggest favours. LBA project Sky was the perfect example. You mean that terminal that was suppose to be at the eastern end of the apron that never happened due to incompetent leadership of our so called leaders!
I must say i do find it incredible that its MPs and councillors that have the power to either approve or reject plans, up until joining F4A i didnt really have a clue how the planning system went so naturally was a bit shocked to find its them lot that have the power in their hands!Let's face it. I hope so. It served a purpose but it was really basic. No wonder folk grumbled about it.Has the 'bus shelter' been totally removed now, Sputnik?
I think its more important to contact your MP's and put a case for the airport. The more people who do this the more likely they are to do something about it.That's why you should vote for someone who doesnt want to do that and actually wants to work in the interests of the people they represent. Someone who will reject the idiotic climate change cult, arrest these extreme leftist and right idiotic idiots, anyone who is a traitor and works for the WEF, approves a 3rd/4th runway at Heathrow, 2nd at Gatwick, terminals galore, Leeds trams and gets on with the job at hand. Vote me.
In other news - why are so obsessed with the outside of the terminal? Passengers do not care about that but rather they care about the terminal experience something that LBA will improve for all concerned. The appearance of outside which I care about is looking towards the airfield and that looks rather impressive and airy. Exactly what LBA is needing.
As for the arrivals process - is their a plan to re configure/re do the whole road network around the airport/ on airport land? As otherwise I'll agree it'll be shocking experience that passengers are dumped at one end of the airport and then have to drag all their cases up hill towards the taxi rank or pick up area / car park pick up's etc!!
Or does that need planning permission? Which we know the climate change cult will reject (deranged morons) and our MP's and councillors will also reject due to lacking an ounce of intelligence.

Not yet, only adjacent stands 10 and 11. They're cracking on with it thoughHas the 'bus shelter' been totally removed now, Sputnik?
My understanding is that the bus shelter beyond the terminal extension will remain for now, so that remaining bit down towards the Eastern end of the apron. In the future, they intend a further project to replace it with a two level pier with remote holding lounges but that will require a planning application and all the fun and games that will bring. Not yet, only adjacent stands 10 and 11. I say get the application in now with labour changing their way of thinking! My understanding is that the bus shelter beyond the terminal extension will remain for now, so that remaining bit down towards the Eastern end of the apron. Perhaps they would if it weren't for the cost. They're already committed to spending £200m with (as yet) no payback. There's a limit to how much they can finance. They could of course put in an application, get approval, dig a hole to say they've started, and defer the works , but again, it gives the Clowncil the opportunity to attach restrictions to the approval which could be a passenger cap, so limiting the airport capacity and preventing them even reaching the predicted 7m passengers per year.I say get the application in now with labour changing their way of thinking!
A two level pier extending out into the apron with aircraft parking on each side would do very nicely!
Looks more like an access ramp for wheelchairs etc. to me.View attachment 32021
Thanks @Sputnik1
Any idea what is going on in this picture at ground level? It looks like a conveyor underneath the windows of the first floor but I though all the baggage arrival systems were going down into the basement?
