The whole thing is a complete an utter page by page self destruct of a once good city network. What makes things worse is the fact they (the clownsil) are actively championing the ever increasing population year on year whilst simultaneously decreasing road capacity in every corner. There is some kind of agenda here but, I cannot put my finger on it. The only semi logical but (suicidal) thing they may be doing is bringing the city traffic stats up to a point where government funds become more readily available for public transport funds AKA the Tram. I say suicidal because if this theory doesn’t pay off the long term detrimental effects on the city are not worth thinking about.

As for the ELOR, yes it’s good now but it hasn’t been future proofed in any way that will benefit the city in the coming decades, there are no grade separated junctions, only roundabouts, meaning it’s being built to facilitate one thing - houses, once they’re built that road will too become a traffic disaster.

As for west Leeds / east Bradford the only thing they can do now to stop this area becoming a total future gridlock hell hole is to plan a dual carriageway WLOR from the M62/M621 at junction 27 up between Drighlington/Gildersome past Tong intersecting Leeds Road at Thornbury before heading to the east of Calverley and up towards LBA. From there it could head east to eventually link up to the ELOR. I know it’s not at all likely to happen and even if it were a real plan it wouldn’t be built for 40 years if at all. God knows what West Leeds Traffic will look like by then…

The massive roundabout at Junction 27, constructed a few years ago, is one that actually works. Don’t know who designed it but before that it was an absolute nightmare from all directions. It proves it can be done when the expertise and money is there.

Who has noticed the clearing of trees, bushes etc up at dawsons corner? God help us all once they start work on that junction!
Lets be honest driving in west yorkshire anytime between 3 and 7pm is just a nightmare and best to be avoided!
Yes and where is the diversion for that one going to be? Apperley Bridge and Greengates?

Next they'll be replacing Lawnswood roundabout with a huge US style traffic light junction, which promises to be a nightmare but once again the focus is on buses, cycling snd walking, and stuff the motorists.

On top, they are using this as their long awaited excuse to reduce the speed limits between Lawbswood and Moor Allerton (King Lane) . The current 70mph limit is to drop to 40mph between Lawnswood and Long Causeway, then 50mph from there to King Lane.

Really?! Are they having a laugh?! They can quite frankly **** off … 70mph is safe down there with little to no built up areas. ELOR would be much better if it was 70.

Proof if anything, even our councils have been bought by climate change globalists. Moronic brain dead power mad psychopaths - councillors and MP’s.

Yes, really. There was an article about it yesterday. It was the only part if the Ring Road left that had the national speed limit.

To complete this project perhaps we should be borrowing some of the £1bn DSA are wanting the government to cough up to build their super high speed railway line directly to their unopened airport so that their millions of passengers can get swiftly to the airport for their flights to Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Australia, USA and everywhere else around the world.

Actually that's a good call because they wanted other regions to contribute to their cause so fair has to be fair!

Has anyone heard any more about the Parkway Station? All gone very quiet.
Yes - WYCA approved another £250,000 on the proposed Parkway station at the end of 2024 which included £65k on developing the minimum viable product (as WH mentioned from the last ACC meeting)….Total project cost looks to have escalated to £65.5m! It’s covered in page 296 of the attached https://westyorkshire.moderngov.co.uk/documents/g1401/Public reports pack 30th-Jan-2025 11.00 West Yorkshire Combined Authority.pdf?T=10

As for DSA this is just pure electioneering by their delusional Mayor……£1bn on a rail link to an airport with a dozen flights a day 🤣🤣🤣 she must think the voters of Doncaster were born yesterday!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
