Presumably the structure within the attached photo, is an arrivals corridor into the new arrivals waiting area (currently the CSZ)?View attachment 32316
This will be the temporary arrivals exit to bypass the current CSZ until it is moved to the current baggage reclaim area.

As soon as the extension is open they can begin phase two and dismantle baggage reclaim and immigration.

Update on the new stands, the layout will now be as depicted. To be named 22B and 23. 21C, i assume, is becoming 22A. If its layout remains the same, it means that access to 21A, 21B, 22B and 23 is reliant on 22A being clear. Not ideal.View attachment 32318
Agreed, these two new stands will be “first in, last out” stands given they’re both will be blocked in by another aircraft. Useful for upping the night stopping capacity, but can make life difficult if the aircraft goes tech on the stand blocking these two new stands in!

Is that because this is a cheaper cost option, or simply a lack of available space?

Can’t be available space as the plan is for 10 new stands, of which these are the first 2. And presumably the cost is the cost. It’s excavation work, pouring concrete etc. Presumably the intention is to address the peak constraint which is probably around 4-5am when everything has returned from the previous day’s programme and nothing has yet departed.

The Problem is space at the minute as most nights there’s aircraft being parked on the taxiway which to me suggests more stands are needed. Being over on those stands last night I saw what looked like construction work so I’m assuming they’re getting ready to start building the new stands.

They can still tow it out of the way to allow the other aircraft out if it’s tech.

Night stopping is the pinch point so although not ideal it does allow more flexibility. Doesn't Jet2 still base standby aircraft at Leeds? I'm guessing these will be ideal for standby aircraft?

Looking at the aircraft illustration, am I right in thinking the new stands can accommodate the A321?

Parking aircraft on taxiways overnight is nothing new to Leeds Bradford and, as our friend CM points out, suggests a stand shortage. The airport has had this situation for at least a decade and I'm pleased remedial steps are now underway. But I still would have hoped for a layout which didn't result in aircraft being blocked in. Sod's Law says the one you need is the inaccessible one. I repeat this has historically been an issue for Jet2 only (aside from LBA Ops) rather than any Swissport client airline and I don't expect it to change.

It maybe that the financial arrangement agreed with Jet2 compensates for the inconvenience.

As it has been reported many of times, LBA only would build stand if demand was there etc for more aircraft AC if I remember correctly, if aircraft have been parking on taxiways for many of year, surely this was justification for way back when to have these built?

nevermind before anymore based units join the party?

anyway good to see x2 new stands / plans, look to be 321 size which is a plus.

Slope and Elevation. Delta is a good few feet highter than 21C, which means that the stands could either be level with Delta or level with 21C. The former presents challenges with apron road access, and the boundaries of the Critical Zone would need changing to allow pushback teams to use Delta without having to clear security afterwards. Delta is also sloping noticeably "downwards" towards the terminal, so building stands that are "level" alongside it is virtually impossible.

Why is there a big area between the terminal and bus stops fenced off?
Farrans are creating 3 storage areas for the building materials / equipment for phase 2 of REGEN. There will also be space for temporary toilets for when the landside toilets get hoarded off as part of the works. Meet & Greet is now operating both pick up and drop off from the same car park instead of the forecourt. Farrans site office currently in front of the new extension will remain in that location for phase 2.

Thanks for that

Leeds Bradford Airport

Our CEO Vincent Hodder and Programme Director Steve Hudson welcomed James Burke, Managing Director and Co-Head of InfraBridge to our LBA:REGEN site last week to walk him through the project’s progress in preparation for opening next month.

LBA is one of three UK airports under the ownership of InfraBridge which seeks high-quality opportunities in strategic locations with significant growth potential, staying at the forefront of industry trends.

James Burke commented: “Once the new terminal extension opens, the current terminal will undergo a full refurbishment. This combination will completely transform the customer journey at LBA. This is an exciting prospect for the millions of passengers who choose to travel through LBA every year.”

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
