To be fair La Palma is the island splitting into two due to volcanic activity (and global warming if you believe Netflix lol 🙄) When it does eventually fall into the Atlantic Ocean it will likely take much of Spain, Portugal and the Eastern sea board of America and the Caribbean with it so there's not much point in worrying about it.

Global warming - if it means not de icing my car in winter I’m all for it.

Cheerie disposition mr aviador. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

And Cornwall, Devon, South Wales and the Bristol Channel including the likes of Gloucester and Shrewsbury.

My sister lived in Guadaloupe where they have evacuation drills for this event. Let's hope it never happens.

Good job there are no flights to Valencia from LBA then. There was a programme on the other night about the flash flooding there in October 2024 in which 220 people lost their lives. Terrifying stuff.
Was in valencia this feb (beautiful city) travelling up the AP7 motorway approaching valencia major road construction was taking place as the floods last oct had literally washed the entir motorway away! Then once into the urban area you could see all the smashed up washed away vehicles in the now dry river bed plus other flood damage still visible some 4 months on.
To note a good viewing point for VLC airport movements next to the A3 road leading into the city as it passes the end of the runway there!

I was in my local area earlier for an appointment and passed two travel agents, one with big Jet2 vinyls in the window. I took a look at the offers - 80% of them had the departure airport of Liverpool! Most of the rest were Manchester and two for LBA. The other travel agent just had Manchester and London, but the offers were more long haul.
Separately, I have been looking for a holiday for November. Exact same date and hotel £602 with Tui from Man and £909 with Jet2 ex LBA even with the 200 pound offer they do. I’m prepared to pay extra to fly from LBA, but not when it is half again.

But there will be many who will pay that, as indicated by the fact that few holidays are being offered from LBA in the Travel Agents.. The more ads there are, the more seats still to fill.

I’m sure there are people who are willing to pay that premium, I’d prefer to add it to another holiday, rather than pay significantly over the odds for pretty much the same. Whilst I think Jet2 is a good product, it is no better than Tui on product specific customer service ( note I’m separating customer service from their presence at LBA).

Jet2 do fantastically well from LBA, but LBA customers do need Easyjet to give them competition on core routes.

Does anyone know why there are 3 Jet2 flights to FAO today, 2 early this morning which I have never seen before? Can't be passenger numbers.

Found it….LS455 then goes from FAO to LTN.

So my question here this morning is has the bubble burst for our beloved based airline?
I sincerely hope not but it does make me question whether they are trying to expand too quickly?
There are too main reasons for this by all accounts, one being delayed/slow delivery of new aircraft and by all accounts the 3rd based aircraft for BOH in S26 is apparently being removed - possibly due to poor sales.
Does this mean we are going to keep our 733s to help compensate for slow delivery delays of new aircraft.
Then we have to consider the aggressive approach of U2 and their holiday division, in including continued expansion at LBA.
Don't get me wrong, it's all too easy to jump to the wrong conclusions when a bit of bad press arises, especially for an operator who usually has positive pressure so I would be interested to know others thoughts on this, or even the views from those actually in the know, if commercial sensitivity permits

Sorry, is this prompted by a particular article that you’ve read? Just wondering if I’ve missed something for context

Read the link posted by @lbaspotter
I have, and I largely see that as a positive summary. I think the late booking trend concern is industry wide and not something specific to Jet2.
They seem to be well prepared for the year ahead (as well as anyone could be). Of course if nobody books those late holidays then things might become a bit wobbly but again, that will affect most operators dependent on the holiday and City break markets

It is well documented that Airbus deliveries are slow and it is also posted elsewhere that Jet2 will now not be basing a 3rd aircraft at BOH in S26.
Yes there is also the late booking trend that does require operators to hold their nerve.
If you read my post fully I wasn't for one minute suggesting the bubble had burst, just what other people's thoughts were on whether it has or not

I think at BOH it may not all be down to sales, they are extending their terminal and I think the volume of new passenger traffic from Jet2 has been underestimated. The 3rd aircraft I believe will go back once the development is complete.

Specific to Jet2, unless you get an early booking, a last minute one is the only option available to many people, as their pricing is high compared to Tui and others. This may not be helping their planning and forecasting model, although it will help their accounts.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
