People have asked what happened last night at our Melbourne-Orlando International Airport as numerous first tesponders were seen on the runway last night responding to an incident.
According to our Airport Director Greg Donovan - “a B787–9 TUI aircraft departing for Birmingham. UK, aborted their takeoff on runway 9R due to an alarm in the cockpit. While exiting the runway at Taxiway C, the aircraft's right main landing gear went into the grass.
Unable to continue the taxi, airport personnel immediately responded and have been deplaning the 350 passengers and transporting them via busses to hotels.
Mechanics from STS are working with ground crews and towing resources to move the aircraft. Once this occurs, mechanics will recertify the aircraft for a potential rescheduled flight tomorrow.
The flight is cancelled and the focus is on accommodation of the passengers.
There were no injuries. Airport staff, including OPS, MX, APD, and Menzies, along with Cliff, Mark, and myself will remain on scene throughout the recovery process. All of our team are working hard and working well to resolve the situation.
I want to commend our Airport team and first responders for working late into the night during this incident. Any incident on a plane is stressful and our airport team showed why they are among the best in the aviation field!

TOM601 Melbourne-Birmingham due 0700 Saturday morning, aircraft G-TUIN, still showing delayed at least 24 hours!

https://avherald.com/h?article=5273d4ed&opt=0

G-GDFD has since ferried back to Birmingham late Saturday evening at 2312, and G-DRTA departed Birmingham at 1923 to Luxembourg to pick up the pasengers, and take then onto Dalaman, with a delay of just over 5 hours, the return flight LS1210 Dalaman-Birmingham has been cancelled, with returned passengers now flying back on LS922 into Manchester.

a couple of medical diversions this morning:-

LS3915 EDI-FCO B738 G-JZBA landed 07:38
It was G-JZDA on the EDI diversion Matt. On a side note....do you know why both the Tui to ACE and Jet2 to MAH both returned to the terminal this morning ? Both in quick succession 🤔

2 more returned flights yesterday (Tuesday) back to Brum:-

TOM7276 to Skiathos 06:00 on B738 G-FDZY departed 06:32, got as far as the Suffolk cost and returned back to BHX, passengers then re-departed on G-TAWC at 09:52

LS1293 to Tenerife South 10:30 on B738 G-DRTI departed 10:40, had a couple of holds over Stoke, then Litchfield before returning back to BHX, passengers re-departed on G-JZHZ at 13:21

luck that both airlines had a spare aircraft on the ground!

Last nights Air India AI113 from Delhi diverted into Abu Dhabi still on the ground there according to FR24.

Reiterating on from HPsauces post which is highly appreciated

Todays scheduled Doha unsurprisingly is cancelled, Emirates and Saudi shown as operating as normal.
Last nights Emirates also operated.

Two Ryanair Stansted diversions today from Lisbon and Cork and one EasyJet Luton diversion from Prague all weather related.

Not strictly related to this thread but noticed Jet2 had two different A332s in today operating Faro and Barcelona.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
