Eastern appear to still be recruiting cabin crew for LBA
They’re still recruiting pilots for LBA and this has been a problem for them. The airline hiring market is strong in the U.K. at the moment so it’s somewhat an employees market. There’s very little attraction towards Eastern for experienced pilots and that’s what Eastern needs to run a compliant operation, there are no shortage of low hour or less experienced flight crew. This is a problem inherent in such market conditions and, quite rightly, you’re not going to attract experience from places like CityFlyer. The only possible reason someone with lots of experience operating E-jets might go to Eastern is through the promise of a regional base.

I’m reliably informed that training continues apace and they are still heavily crewing up so I’m certain the plan will be for Eastern to return fully to the LBA operation when they are. I’ve also said Eastern have communicated their struggles to KLM and kicked back against taking on too much, although I suspect that doesn’t fit the narrative of a chaotic or unstable company, it is what has happened and I’ve no doubt is what has happened with the LBA base.

I must say it is good to see the AMS route be operating more stable / reliable at the moment, hopefully customer confidence is improving. I am surprised the airport hasn't sent a press release / social media update regarding the 4th Daily AMS for winter. Hopefully it continues for Summer.

LBA have just announced the following.

We’re excited to announce that starting 26th October 2025, KLM are adding a fourth daily flight to Amsterdam as part of their winter schedule (excluding 4 Jan – 20 Feb 2026).

This means even more choice and flexibility when connecting to over 160 global destinations via Amsterdam Schiphol!

Lets hope it follows into S26!

I suppose this is another way to confront KLM's pilot shortage.

For whatever reason (lack of LBA aviation news perhaps?), the other UK airport forums don't tend to digress away from the subject of aviation to the level that ours does. It is after all an aviation forum. I for one, are dreading the start of the football season!

Well the new football season will most likely stretch T3 to their limits again which is very relevant to our KLM thread. So let's hope we continue to see mainly (if not mainline) KLM ops for a little longer yet

Unless Titan Airways capture some of the football team charter business from T3 with their recently acquired E190 leaving a bit more headroom for T3 to fulfill their KLM obligations. Spookily the Titan machine has been painted into a special “Lionesses” livery to celebrate the women’s England football team winning the recent Euros and flew them back to England. Could be an indication of Titan’s future intentions perhaps.
