Flew BHX - AGP with EasyJet this afternoon. Check in was a bit of a farce, security was very quick and took off 18 mins late due to late arrival of fuel truck. Smooth flight and very smooth touchdown in Malaga. 133 pax on board today. Good flight 👍👍

Hope you have a lovely Holiday Karl ;-)

Booked EZY to Edinburgh on 16th Feb, returning on 18th Feb. No hold baggage so should be able to get straight through.
Went through on the 16th at what could have been a busy time with Saudia, Emirates & Qatar flights all leaving at about the same time.

Signposting on arrival from the NEC needs improvement as there was a lot of confusion. Pax joining the security queue from both the lifts and the shuttle. Happily, I had bought fast track and went straight through.

Building work continues apace and the old security area is now being fitted out whilst duty free is being finished. When this has been completed, it will make a big difference to the passenger experience

Inside was heaving with three large A/C departing close to each other.
As I was on a domestic EZY flight, I had the luxury of peace & quiet in All Bar One.

On return, it was good to note that baggage reclaim in T2 is also being fitted out.

In comparison to Edinburgh, I would say that usage of space is much more efficient given that EDI has a larger footprint. However, there is a much larger volume of domestics @ EDI, largely to London airports so the average time for pax in terminal would be a lot shorter than BHX pax who are mostly VFR or bucket & spade, IMO.

Not flying from BHX, but staying overnight at the BHX Holiday Inn this Friday. I grew up in Elmdon and always admired the wonderful Art deco, but never stayed there. Hopefully a half decent view of a multi storey car park of the backend of a rusting corrugated roof!

Mums going Northern Ireland on Saturday morning 7.35 her flight is and I wanted to know what time should she get to the airport for and are security times awful at that time?

Depends on whether she has bags to drop off or will be going straight to security. Personally I'd be there a min of 2 hours before but I am on the cautious side and am happy to sit and have a drink whilst waiting.

They used to have a Marco Pierre White restaurant in the Holiday Inn. Had a lovely meal in there with Mrs F which was kind of spoilt by Body Power Live being on at the NEC and lots of very ripped people making me feel more than a little inadequate 🤣

I stopped in the Holiday inn.on my honeymoon night before departing to Ibiza on a BA-1'11 in 1974..Back then it was called the Buccaneer,

By then my wife had discovered my three vices of aviation, Birmingham City and beer
50 years on same three vices and same wife- back to our hols now- opening time!

Been woken up in the Holiday Inn by a steady stream of departures. Forgot how busy this aerodrome is. No BAC 1-11s or the odd Comet though, like those good old days on this side of the runway.

I was struck by a pretty full ramp around the old Eurohub. How many based aircraft do we have overnight....I counted 17 that I could see. Downside being their successive departures, hence being woken up

Hotel needs some work on the finer details. But very comfortable. No kettle on the room! National disgrace.

If any of you are departing this morning, virtual wave and have a safe journey.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
