I remember it well. Little margin for error on landing but it was executed perfectly and stopped almost as it crossed the bridge. That is how I recall it. Take off was a breeze and it was airborne around the midpoint.

The first Wardair operated on the same day direct to Toronto with a full payload of freight and passengers with enough fuel for the journey. This is widely contested on here but it is true and I believe it was stated as such in the airports official handbook if anyone still has a copy.

Ditto. It was. Happy days

Yes, although that Wardair on 4th November 1984 was one of only two to operate direct, the other being a DC10-30, the only time Wardair used one to LBA. The entire series of flights was cancelled in 1985, so the next flight after 4th November was May 1986 and that, and all future flights (except the DC10) operated direct inbound and via BHX outbound. Worth noting though that back then, BHXs runway was a very similar length to LBA and of course points in the same direction (15/33).

I’ve noted over the last few days that a number of aircraft that miss the alpha taxiway turning are back tracking on the runway 32 instead of going round the loop. Is this rule now scrapped?
If you mean they're doing a 180 on the runway, then backtracking, then yes, it must be, as they've been doing it for some time now on 32 and 14.

I presume they`ll decide on the precise winter dates at some later point....We are back into LBA at 0100 on the 11th November with Ryanair...Don`t want to get dumped into Manchester...thanks

This has probably been mentioned before but does anyone bonus there are any plans to bring back into use the stands around 2 to 5 once the extension is fully operational, am sure they could easily accommodate the ATR’s
I joint would mean removing a couple of buildings, but would these buildings still be required?

I believe stand 5 was mentioned but I think stand 2/3 is still occupied by hall B baggage.

Stand 2 will never become operational for as long as check in Hall B stays in its present location. This is the baggage make up area for Jet2 and has had a number of extensions over the years.

Stand 3 currently houses a plethora of Jet2 tugs and baggage carts. This is convenient for the operation as its right next to the baggage make up area. When this stand was in use, it could only be used be certain aircraft types. The majority of them don't operate from LBA anymore.

Stand 4 comprises of a portacabin type building that houses the extra baggage belt, AOU and a Swissport office. This is due to be removed but a date is not yet confirmed.

LBA are looking at options on how to best utilise what were Stands 3/4 going forward but there isn't much space to play with given our predominant aircraft is the 737.

At present, a 737-300 can fit onto stands 1, 5 and 6, but not an 800 variant.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
