Yes, although that Wardair on 4th November 1984 was one of only two to operate direct, the other being a DC10-30, the only time Wardair used one to LBA. The entire series of flights was cancelled in 1985, so the next flight after 4th November was May 1986 and that, and all future flights (except the DC10) operated direct inbound and via BHX outbound. Worth noting though that back then, BHXs runway was a very similar length to LBA and of course points in the same direction (15/33).I remember it well. Little margin for error on landing but it was executed perfectly and stopped almost as it crossed the bridge. That is how I recall it. Take off was a breeze and it was airborne around the midpoint.
The first Wardair operated on the same day direct to Toronto with a full payload of freight and passengers with enough fuel for the journey. This is widely contested on here but it is true and I believe it was stated as such in the airports official handbook if anyone still has a copy.
Might explain some strange routings taken last night by arriving traffic at the bottom of taxiway Delta.Delta 3 now closed for ~1 week for resurfacing. Foxtrot will be closed from 2nd Dec for resurfacing. Cable pulling and unit install of Fixed Ground Power will begin tomorrow with stands 14-15.
Yes the 2 new stands are much further out from the main apron than i expected which for us spotters is a good thing.
From the position Blue Sky aviation is filming from you get a good look at what I assume is the construction of the new stands as he follows landing aircraft taxiing down delta
If you mean they're doing a 180 on the runway, then backtracking, then yes, it must be, as they've been doing it for some time now on 32 and 14.I’ve noted over the last few days that a number of aircraft that miss the alpha taxiway turning are back tracking on the runway 32 instead of going round the loop. Is this rule now scrapped?
I presume they`ll decide on the precise winter dates at some later point....We are back into LBA at 0100 on the 11th November with Ryanair...Don`t want to get dumped into Manchester...thanksDuring summer season LBA is a 24 hour operational airfield. Due to essential works LBA have published a few planned closure periods in early hours from 03:00 to 06:00 on the following dates;
JUNE= Wed 26th & Thu 27th
JULY = Wed 30th & Thu 31st
AUGUST = Wed 27th & Thu 28th
SEPTEMBER = Wed 24th & Thu 25th
Again due to essential airfield works full Overnight closures have been confirmed for forthcoming WINTER 2025/2026 season as follows:
Mon-Fri = 23:00-06:00
Sat-Sun = 23:59-06:00
I believe stand 5 was mentioned but I think stand 2/3 is still occupied by hall B baggage.This has probably been mentioned before but does anyone bonus there are any plans to bring back into use the stands around 2 to 5 once the extension is fully operational, am sure they could easily accommodate the ATR’s
I joint would mean removing a couple of buildings, but would these buildings still be required?
