Jet2 Lapland charters are now up and running.

Boeing 737-800, G-JZHT did the first of the Santa Holidays departures out to Ivalo yesterday as EXS2133 and positioned back empty as EXS084C
Boeing 737-800, G-JZBO has today operated a Canterbury Travel day drip up to Enontekio as EXS2113 and is due back this evening as EXS2114.

Hopefully it’s a sign that loadings are doing well. As it was interesting to note Jet2 sent Boeing 737-800’s out on the city routes to Paris Cdg, Prague, Vienna, Copenhagen, Cologne, Budapest, & Krakow yesterday whilst the Boeing 737-300’s did the Rome & Berlin services.

The 733s are being very lightly used at the moment, most citybreak routes have been using the B738s

Could be a few factors in play here:
Hopefully it is positive loads related but could also be:
Jet2 helping with the longevity of the 733s, especially with LGW to support overall fleet wise and need all aircraft they can get in 2026.
Could also be LBA being a "good neighbour" and asking Jet2 to use the 733s sparingly through winter

Another day without any of the 300’s being used… can't see it being due to the high loads on the other flights.
Not sure what your point is? its mid week December, there is no doubt any "planned" flights on the 300's and flying is no doubt on the more fuel efficient 800's. A quick look on FR24, no 321 ceo's are not flying. Plenty of gaps.

We have a lot of older 800’s at LBA…I think its down to reliability rather than fuel economy.

737-300 vs 737-800: Fuel Efficiency Breakdown (Even for 25–30-year-old aircraft)

1. Raw fuel burn (block fuel)

A 737-800 burns more fuel per hour than a 737-300, because:
  • It’s larger
  • It’s heavier
  • It has more powerful engine

You keep saying we have a lot of older 800s. Each time I check, we don't have 'a lot.l' Today is no exception.

We have had 8 different 800s land today. Of those, 3 are what you might call old. (26, 25 and 25). 1 is approaching middle age at 12 , 3 are 8 years old and 1 is 7 years old. Those last four are from the last batches delivered new so as new as they get with Jet2.

So, as is usually the case, we have a mix, but definitely not 'a lot' of old ones.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
