After this morning out in ME I wonder if it will happen Last nights EK380 ex MAN got most of the way and has returned after it has all kicked of again, airborne about 10+ hours

The Turkish Market has contracted considerably with their neighbour at war. It's looking like a tough year for Eastern Mediterranean tourism.

Exactly, its not just the current conflict the inflation rate in Turkey is over 33% on top last years at over 40% means its no longer the bargain for tourists it used to be. TUI for example had already reduced this years offering before the conflict and its widely reported bookings accross the Turkish market are now seriously down as people are booking the Western Med. etc for the summer breaks and Carriabean for winter instead of Dubai etc.

It's wildy optimistic to say the least to be looking for expansion as has been suggested in any of that part of the world currently including onward connections by any of our carriers. From BHXs point of view its a more a case of damage limitation trying to retain our existing routes to and through the Middle East.

As this is the Qatar thread the latest I've seen hinted at is BHX is slated to restart 1st May although still apparently taking bookings from 29th March
Emirates evening 777 also suggested as 1st May - all very tentative.

Whenever they restore the route to Doha, and Emirates restore the evening Dubai, I will be happy. It's always a concern when routes are stopped, for whatever reason, including safety concerns, that they do return to a full service.

The concern is that even when the war is over, the Gulf airlines will face major over capacity, even if only for a while. What the timetables will look like is anybody’s guess.

If it was any other part of the world I would be a lot more concerned, but to countries like the UAE and Qatar, tourism and their respective airlines are too important to their economies. Once restrictions are lifted - which certainly isn't known at the moment, I suspect the like of QR, EK, EY will be very aggressive with regard to fairs and market share. The will likely hit the ground running to encourage back those expats and the travelling public as soon as they can. Whenever this thing ends... i would expect a price war for a few months after.

The fact that Emirates is back to 65% of pre-war capacity even though their are restrictions of air space and the UAE is on the no-go list for most western governments is nothing short of a miracle...

Unsure if this has been mentioned looking above don’t think it has, A7-BDD due to fly back to Doha as QTR3073 (QR3073) tonight at 2200z, ETD 2215z.

Believe this was stuck in Birmingham since stuff started in the Middle East?

Edit: Just departed, safe travels Bravo Delta Delta.

Looks like Qatar continue to make changes to their schedule as they slowly - and understandably cautiously - increase capacity through Doha.

BHX has now been re-added to their "Route Resumption" list in their update today.

Looking to be as follows:

W/C 6th April = 3x Weekly
W/C 13th April = 4x Weekly
W/C 20th April = 5x Weekly (excl. Mo/Sa)
W/C 4th May = Daily

Obviously prone to change on a daily basis but this is how things currently stand with regard to flights bookable on the QR Website!

Okay. Take it it didnt start then? There is no actual date next to BHX on their website (unlike others)

EDIT: oh I've read that totally incorrectly.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
